Hi,

I am wanting to ask. Does anyone find that they can be somewhere, anywhere, wherever.. and there is something, some object that they can't stop looking at for some reason?

Such as being in a room and your eyes are continuously being drawn to the carpet because it is striped, and when you pull your eyes up they end up there again? Or there is a coloured object sitting on a table and you can't stop looking at it? You sort of get locked into looking at things?

I find it especially bad looking at parts of people. For example if a person has a spot on their face I cannot stop looking at it. I need to make a physical effort to keep my eyes somewhere else so my eyes don't look at the spot because people notice when you keep looking at their spots etc.

Or am I just strange?

Same thing happens to me. Last time I saw my psychologist I kept looking at a book on her shelf. Interestingly enough it was a book on autism spectrum disorders.
Other times I have talked to people my eyes would be drawn to ornaments and picture frames, even sometimes light fixtures.

There is an object ... err I mean girl... that sits a few feet away from me at work. I find myself staring at her a lot. When I look away, I find that my eyes get drawn back toward her. Can't help it. She's purdy.

No. At work we had this 7-petal flower-shaped multi-colored marker. I always drew my eye to it if it was in direct or peripheral vision. The only way I could get rid of it was to pick it up, put a stripe in my notepad and leave it on someone else's desk.

Oh yeah, I distracted by different things. It can be anything from pictures, to a candle flame, to people walking in a hallway, and I won't be able to stop looking for the longest time. I understand completely!

Yes. And one memory that was the absolute worst one I had with that situation was when I was at a store and my brother told me to go get a bag of chips, I stared at another aisle for a second and he had to tease me by saying "Yes, those are THE CHIPS!"

Ugh *shudders*

Yep, so it happens to me all the time. I call it "suspense", because in such moments I can not think straight or even move, because I'm "stuck" in my own brain "through" my eyes...

Yes. I'm into visual stimulation in a big way. I like to watch spinning things and things with moving parts. Basically things that move in a repetitive way. I also like cicada shells, and feathers. I always notice those things, mainly because I look at the ground all the time. Most of the time I can't handle looking straight ahead.

Yes, definitely. Especially stuffed animals that are oversized and very expensive... I also find myself staring at electronics and wanting to touch them. Honestly, it can be pretty much anything. A spot on someone's face? Goodness! I usually stare at people if they are very unattractive to me, which is VERY odd... Pimples are gross looking, so those catch my attention, too.

Sometimes just the light through a chainlink fence will stop me cold. This was a really big problem in school. I would always get distracted by something, maybe just a pattern in fabric or a braid in someone's hair (where does it start, where does it end) and get busted by the teacher.

Yes, it has been a big problem throughout my life.

A love the curves and what I perceive as perfection or fault in the human body. The female body is more stimulating to observe.

Not a good obsession to have if you have Gym membership.
