Indeed. You are probably correct, Nomaken.
I do not have a picture; my grandparents, who came to visit me yesterday, took pictures, but their camera is not instant. I used the super-glue story on them; my grandmother believed it, but my grandfather, who is quite perceptive, must have seen through it because he made mention of my eyebrows, which do not yet look normal. I think he just believes I did it on a whim, while at a party or perhaps to be rebellious; he mentioned a movie in which someone did exactly that, so he might have assumed I was the same. At any event, I am not a very good liar; nor do I like lying.
Yesterday was warm, so I didn't wear my cap; I got all sorts of reactions, from shock to envy of my "guts" (courage, not internal organs). My friends are used to my eccentricities, so they don't seem to care all that much; but I didn't sit with them at lunch yesterday--I had a lunch meeting with my German professor--so I'll talk to them today for more than a few seconds, for the first time since they saw my new haircut.
A week after first shaving my head, I have about three millimeters of hair, so that it looks like a buzz cut. This is technically within my school's dress code, which does not allow shaved heads but says nothing about very short hair. A Dean whom I know greeted me in the cafeteria; she didn't comment on the hair, so I assume, since her part of her responsibility is to keep order, that she didn't count it as being too short for dress code. I might not end up with more than a reprimand, even if I were to get in trouble.
A girl in my hall insisted on rubbing my head for luck. Thankfully I no longer flinch at physical contact (I did until about two years ago), or I might have attempted to punch her in the nose, or something equally violent!
I shall count this as a new experiment on the responses of people to the unexpected.
