My 3 obsessions make me weird, apparently.

I don't see what's wierd about greek mythology, I've had it as an interest off and on since primary school.

Or what's wrong with books, me and my my mum are addicted to books. we've probably got enough books to open a books store.

As for Alison Krauss, while it's not an obsession of mine, I have two songs of hers on my walkman she's got a nice voice.

People who don't understand having interests I just believe must lead very dull lives!

Maybe people think you're weird because you like books, I experience it too. Most people dislike reading, and think easily you're a geek when you do read a lot of books. Most people just don't seem to be interested and to be prefering other things. I don't mention anymore what I like to do, since people tend to see anyone who reads more books than they do as a nerd, which ends up in becoming very impopular. I don't say any longer what I like, people judge very easily. After when I've stopped telling people in conversations what I really like, I got more liked by people. I definetely dislike this, but it's better than being bullied or laughed at. Why can't people just like me for who I am? What does it matter that I have interests which differ from theirs, why doesn't your popularity depend on who you are, on whether you are nice?-Questions I often ask myself.

By the way-I love Greek mythology too!

People are so narrow minded. They just wish they were as awesome and as intelligent as we are :D . But they aren't.

I have a weird combo to...
Medical Conditions (mostly Neurology and Down Syndrome) John C. McGinley (He is a Down Syndrome awareness activist and I became a big fan of his) The Beatles, and gnomes.

my intersts aren't that werid I have it in common with alot of my skater homeboys(yes I am one of the skaters) we all mostly love video games , anime/ manga , skateboading and some like me bmxing too we like youtube and movies and shows and we all like simluar music we like all types of punk and underground rap although I also like the old rock from mid 60's to late 80's, grundge which was popluar with old school skaters old metal from earley 70's to mid 80's i consider metlica start of the gothci metal age and metlica , slipknot and disturbed are the only somewhat gothic metal ones I like iron madian sucks cuz they are confused posers that I stuck between old and new metal and can't make up their mind well even liking all this stuff outside of the underground rap and all types of punk which is the skate music of the 21st centry they don't hate me for liking stuff outside the box I think my city ottawa may be more actpteing to an extent probally if you were like most aspergers people are you will be shunned but if you find away to fit in with a crowd that is not the crowd (ex: skaters, goths, punks, emos or nerds) you will have it much better cuz you will at least have some freinds to talk to.

I was asked the other day what I enjoyed. So naturally I replied "Alison Krauss, Greek Mythology, and any books I can find." A few of the people in class started snickering and laughing. It sounds like they were being jerks. They might have snickered because of some clandestine reason they are privy to because they talked about it and so it becomes their inside joke. It's just plain bad manners and ways they bond and entertain themselves.
Or it could be one thought it was funny started snickering and the others heard it and saw it and caught it and couldn't help themselves even though they didn't think the interests alone were funny.
Or, it could be one of them was reminded of something humorous that's vaguely connected to one of the interests and compulsively started snickering over something not even related to you, just your interest in an indirect manner causing a ripple effect since it's true. Laughter is often contagious.
You could do the NT thing and complain about it to someone else when they aren't around. Example: "So and so laughed at my interests and is a real b***h." If it were me I would just confront the person who laughed instead of bringing it up when the person isn't around. I would ask one of them, "hey, what was so funny?"

sounds perfectly legitimate to me. alhtough i do remember the horrors of high school. take care and ignore them. THere are greater things afoot for you - like pursuing alison, mythology and reading. :D
