I've been pondering this issue deeply these past few days. The issue is, am I allowed to be a hermit and just live through my story telling work? It's like every where I turn, there's someone or something seeming like they're trying to force me to march to the same beat as everyone else. It's like I'm wrong if I don't adapt silly postering and body language. I don't care about that stuff. All I want to do is, write, game and watch (with in reason, of course). I'm trying to work towards having a job and things, but beyond that, I have no aspirations. Have I gone nuts? :?:

You're not nuts, you're just you.
Individualality is a lost art these days, so of course people want to mold you into what they see as acceptable.
As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.

i think you're allowed to do anything, but that doesn't stop people from expecting certain behaviors from you. the thing i keep trying to remember is that they don't feel like they have to act like you, so you really don't have to act like them.

life is really really short. make sure you enjoy the ride and be you.
i was so confused when i was young as an undx'ed AS girl. i really wish someone had told me it was absolutely ok to be me and that all that mattered was enjoying every second of life her on the planet before i carked it.

do what brings you joy. try to minimise hurt of others - flora and fauna and humans - and be nice to yourself.

"Individuality" has never been an art much less an accepted way of being. Conformity has always been the law of the land.
So if you're feeling alienated now, you can expect to feel alienated for the rest of your life. That is unless you become immune to the external effects of, uh... everything.

Like they all said, you have to do what makes you happy. I've become a bit of a hermit myself, for the past 4 years I've only left my house for work, appointments and shopping. Whatever makes you happy to be you.

I just got yelled at by a state licensed instructor today who said to me: "Why can't you just be like everybody else!?"

To which the only reasonable response is this: I am "just like everybody else": Different. Everyone is different, and I am no exception.
