My avatar is my favorite character. I think people just choose what they like.

Mine is for poetic purposes. It's easy to see my heart. I don't hold anything back.

These are a list of my avatars the top is the current one descending down to my oldest, does this say something about my perception of my face, I'm not sure I'll leave that for others to interpret, I just knew at the time when I chose the pic, I was interested in one was or another about the source material from where the picture originated.

well mine now says i'm a perennial adolescent at age 46 who smiles ever so sweetly and is here to corrupt the youth of WP. (where are you mith and cmastler....the evil auntie millie has arrived........)

i am also a perpetual stimmer and the avatar conveniently renders me quiet and still - which is a highly unusual state of affairs for me. ( egocentricity abounds..without a doubt....)

the real truth comes when i eventually post a vid of myself on WP. then, my friends...you will see motion..

I liked how the happy star-shaped cookie seemed to contrast with the "gloomy" nickname.
I'm a generally happy and spacey person (avatar) but with a morbid outlook (name). 8)

I chose mine for shallow and deep reasons. Shallow - I like the colour and the stars and the silhouette. Deep - it's from the film "Carrie" about a girl who is isolated, victimised, different, lost, alone but has gifts that no one understands. I like that resonance.

I think they're just random.

nothing random about a systematic process of selection - whether it takes 2 seconds or five minutes. not random at all.

are you trying to say you are hip and random??

I chose my avatar based on the fact that I'm a private person and don't like to reveal too much about myself. It's also my favorite interior decorating technique.

Mine is a sketch my girlfriend of eight years quickly did of me a few months ago. I use it because I want an avatar that honestly depicts me, but I don't want to use a photograph because they're much more difficult to blend transparency into for use on any website.

Mine is some cherries with a loveheart for stems...just cos it looks pretty, I guess. Before this it was some pink Manolo Blahniks, for the same reason.

I either use a shadowed version of myself or I over-lay an anime over my image. My Dad doesn't want clear pictures of me on the internet because of my age, and to many people that can be weird in some places, he said it's for my protection.

Mine is almost always something I'm working on at the time or a recently-completed project. It just means I like gratuitous self-promotion.

I like cats. I like my cats. I like hats. I like hats on cats.

Oh, and not to get off topic but I never understood the logic about not wanting to show the internet your face because you are nervous about strangers seeing you. (not due to looks, but interweb safety)What happens when you go out in public and in school or work or to the store? Lots of strangers see your face.

I used to show myself among my Tuxen, but it got boring (and I never got a picture of me in good quality), thus I changed it. i couldn't bear looking at the horribly miscolored picture with each and every post I made (I still have 'Penguin' as custom rank though). Now I have a picture which deals with one of my obsessions. It might not show how I look but it does tell you something about me: I am the kind of person who can tell you a lot about hyperinflations.

I just think the Big Daddies from Bioshock are really cool.

Plus, the most recent photo I have of myself is like 3 or 4 years old
