Professor Simon Baron-Cohen has said that Action For Children's Monster Dan ads are a bad way to represent autism to the world, and offers his support to Neurodiversity:



"An image of a child as a demon in an ad campaign is equally unhelpful if we are to educate the public about autism. These issues, about language and imagery, are important if we take seriously the notion of neurodiversity"

So what is the solution? Censoring organizations so that they say only what suits us? And by "us", which of us gets to choose?
There will always be someone somewhere that finds offense with something someone else said, or televised, or printed.

Again, people find demons where they choose to look for them. Perhaps it's the viewers of this commercial that has the real issue with autism and not it's creators...

Do you really think after his last outing to the media bear pit, he'd risk making a comment if there was nothing wrong with the ads.

It is depicted as slightly biased towards the anti-autism viewpoint, but it is an autistic child narrating it, and he talks as he perceives himself and his behaviour.

It is not a pro-cure, pro-choice, pro-abort advert. It is about helping those who need help. But I must agree with me ol' mate Si - it doesn't educate the masses.

If you have issues you are unable to deal with, you should take them up with the mods.

The ad agency has just used autism as a prop. The object for them is to raise $$$ (oops sorry, your English, £££).

Not to educate the public about autism.
