...... this would be kinda neat if I had any efin clue as to who those are. None that I've met so far at least

My wife read about AS in a popular science magazine and suggested I match the profile. The last thing I want to do is start googling around things as I am sure I can convince myself of anything. So far the list has:

OCD diagnosed and currently treated for (-> yeah right)
Chronic use of multiple SSRI's (thanks for missing a few pounds and loosing my libido for weeks on end)
Tired of Benzos
Still undecided sexual identify
Past of alcohol and cannabis abuse
Violent behavior towards spouse(s)

God its good to be me :(

EDIT: Typos, thank you to velodog for pointing them out

How about pointing out the incorrect spelling of clue (not clew)?

Nick_1970, I just figured out the whole autism spectrum thing myself two years ago and only got DX'ed April of 2008. You don't need to be sorry about a minor spelling error, I was pulling your leg and left out a smiley so that one is on me. For the first four days after I self DX'ed I was happy to know I wasn't alone in my weirdness and then I got really pissed at the whole world for a lifetime of being fu**ed up until about Dec. of 2007 and there was a lot of depression and sadness in that time frame as well, so I should have known better than to pull your leg at this time.
Stick around and nicer people than me will be along to discuss things with you.

How abouts the idea of instead of then trying to convince yourself: try to be sceptical, do what research you feel is appropriate and see what convinces you in spite of your scepticism?

I discovered AS using a top-down approach to what could possibly be 'wrong' with me. I've been able to safely eliminate mostly everything, but so far AS has not been one of those things. In addition, it really has been helpful in understanding the world around me to actually be capable of defining what things would have made me different to the point that I would think that there absolutely must be something wrong with me.

You seem to have a few things to work with here. If you could then identify feelings/reasoning behind some of these things then it would be a good start to understanding what is going on with you.

For example: Violent behavior towards spouse(s)

What motivates this? How do you feel while you are acting violently? Are you generally hot-headed or would you say that it manifests as a last resort fight-or-flight response?

Take a look at the following test:
http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

The tests seem pretty accurate. I am a professionally diagnosed with autistic "disorder," and the test indicate that I am "very likely an Aspie."

"Clew" isn't technically a misspelling - it's the original spelling of the word. Originally, a "clew" was a ball of yarn; in a maze, one could unroll a ball of yarn, thus leaving a trail to find the exit - you would have a "clew" on how to find it. Over time, the spelling of the word when applied to the process of finding a solution was corrupted to "clue".

Clever use of Pink Floyd lyrics in the title, Nick - and welcome to WP!

@Shayne, Thanks for your time and feedback. I am being deadly serious when i say that my root cause of issues is... I am very indecisive?!?

@Cyberscan, Will do, I appreciate it.

@DeaconBlues, Thank you and its really nice to meet you. Unfortunately, I cannot take credit for the phrase as it has been addressed from someone I know to someone I know

Take care and talk soon,

Nick

I find that I am very indecisive too. At any rate, it's hard to tell, but I pretty much self diagnosed myself (the diagnosis of which was then confirmed by a professional psychologist) after reading a book on Aspergers by Tony Attwood and doing all the quizzes. Maybe look up any books you can find on AS, and try some quizzes, although the internet ones are not as reliable (some of the ones I've seen recently on the net have been quite off the mark), you're better off using a reliable source, and spending a little money/borrowing from the library and reading a book on it. Even the most basic picture books on Aspergers for kids can be quite enlightening.

Good luck! And I really hope you find the solutions you're looking for. :D

'somewhat' being the key word here. I have been very frank to my wife about my thoughts however, which sadly spread to a very broad part of the spectrum
