Gotta be a reason.
Agreed, but it can be something as simple as unintentional signals such as body language, seeming coldness, etc.
Very likely. Maybe someone has seen you "stimming" or behaving "nervous and jerky" around them.

All my neighbors watch me from a distance as if I'm something to look at, but as soon as I'm within close range, they turn their heads and talk.
You're different. Different people trigger either anxiety or contempt - maybe both.

Why? I've lived here over 3 years now and only met one of my neighbors. I am not mean to anyone, I've never treated any of these people badly.
Are you a former Yankee or a Damnyankee? Do you know the difference? A Yankee is someone from the north. A Damnyankee is someone from the north who emigrated to the south, bought or rented property, and made themselves at home.

Uh-oh ... the Quiet Loner ... gotta watch out for them ... who knows what they do all alone ... keep an eye on the young'uns ...

To hell with them, though, I don't need them and I do not need to speak to them. I have actually lived here longer than all the neighbors around me, and unless my house gets foreclosed on, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
Good attitude! Personally, I'm tired of being friendly to my neighbors only to have them avoid me.
