I adore you. There is not only no cure, there's no need for one, either. It's like curing some guy for having bucked teeth.

Or curing Asians for having slanted eyes; there's nothing to cure.

whitetiger: great video & you spoke your mind - I like that! Autism is a heterogeneous group - HFA/AS overlaps considerably and there may truly be no demarcation.

About the comments.....agreed; some absurd (& uneducated) remarks. But your words hold and that's what matters. And that you have the strength to speak them. The ones who gave their blatantly ignorant remarks just prove your point; they don't have that acceptance of those who are neurologically different.

Inventor is right! "There is no cure." Thank G_d, minus the religious aspect.

Cure what? I thought we were the cure. If 'they' want to call us Neuroelitists, ok. Whatever.
Aspies don't judge (quite a waste of time, yes?) but instead perform, think, and create.

Thank you for sharing your video - btw, did you watch mine? Pretty sure Aspies own YouTube....

Ahh, now I get it. Your the woman from the You-Tube videos. Wow! What's it like to be famous WhiteTiger? I love your videos. They were some of the first ones I watched after I discovered what Asperger's was a few months ago. The web sites and books I read all said that Aspies usually speak with a strangeness in their voice. But you sounded normal like me. You put a face on Autism that I could relate to. Something other than a non-verbal three year old being videotaped by his mom. What a relief that was because at the time I was still trying to figure out if the symptoms fit me. Thanks and hurray for you!

I think it is a little funny that someone would try and intuit what kind of political ideas you hold, just from your position on Aspies. But I guess using labels is what people do these days. Maybe it helps them cope with the sound-bite world we live in.

I have a question for you though. I can understand why you wouldn't want to be "cured" of Asperger's. It would be like messing around with what makes you fundamentally you. But at the same time, don't you wish you could feel empathy like the NT's do? For me, I'm still a little upset that I don't. Up until a few months ago I didn't even know what empathy was, or that I lacked it. But now that I do know, and now that I've found out what purpose it serves in our lives. I'm a little P.O.'d that I don't feel it like the NT's. I personally am a Christian, so I can live with this knowledge and write it off as part of God's plan. But still... Do you know what I mean? It kind of sucks. :?

Fantastic video, WhiteTiger...and it explains better why we're better friends to people than they are to us. However....you said we need acceptance. No....I've come to accept that getting it isn't likely. If I'm not accepted, I'm not accepted. I don't need it.

I'll overcome the parts of Autism that hold me back, and prosper regardless, and then when all is said and done I'll mention "btw, everyone, I'M AUTISTIC!! !! !!" and make everyone $#!+ their pants! 8)

Oh, about lacking empathy? Yes, this is in parallel to lacking Theory of Mind (& we're quite stuck with this.....). But we certainly CAN, and do, have sympathy and compassion. And that's what matters. For self, as far do I miss having that quality that I lack? No.

Here's why: I suspect it's like being genetically colorblind, like some males (on Y chromosomes) cannot see red & green. In actuality those males don't miss red & green (based upon those I've met) because they cannot miss what they don't have. Another ex: I'm violently allergic to crustaceans (shellfish). If I'm even so much as exposed to shellfish I can go into anaphalatic shock. I do like fish but I obviously cannot eat shellfish. I don't miss it since I've never had it. Some have told me that shellfish is really great. I believe them. But it's not something that I can know.

So, no worries ItsMike. I have few emotions too but I do feel. And, who knows? .....maybe you'd go into anaphalatic shock is you felt empathy!

For those of you red/green colorblind Wrong Planet inhabitants (you know who you are_and I happen to know the Inventor cannot tell blue from green) - RED & GREEN are AWESOME!! ! heh heh. Oh wait, we lack that jealousy emotion too. Nevermind.

I've noticed most people who are overly empathetic...are OVERempathetic, and it winds up dropping the "em" after a while if you get my point. Their emotions start overriding all common sense. That's where we Aspies have the advantage.

Unfortunately, while that may in fact be an oxymoron in the UK, it ain't one here in the States.

If someone ever disses my liberalness, I just call them a redneck. Cos more often than not, it's true.

I don't even bother getting into arguments with curebies anymore, it makes me too angry and doesn't seem worth my time.

dont know what liberal socialist means, but a lot of comments that videos get on YT are troll bait, and autism is always a popular one,for baiting, its not helped that YT isnt moderated.

with the cure topic,am not sure if can understand that most do not want to be cured, maybe if are talking about aspies,as they are the most represented in the autistic community so have more of their views heard, but will find pro curism views the further that go down the spectrum, there are also the profound LF auties who are unable to make such a decision either way, freely.

There is no "Blue" and "Green". It is Cyan polluted with percentages of Yellow!

It is a Spectrum! There is no point where one changes to the other, all is one!

Cyanotherapy can cure this illusion!

Welcome to YouTube. It disgusts me to no end to read all the comments I see some people post on folks' videos. Calling autistic people 'ret*d' and things of that nature, I see it all the time and it REALLY pisses me off. Usually I think it's just immature kids with nothing better to do, but still it's cruel and disgusting.

Liberal socialist? Yeah I'd be offended. But then again I didn't watch your video, so I might think so as well... don't know. I have enough tact, however, not to state my opinions if they're rude. I've learned over the years that people don't like that and I really don't like making enemies. I made enough enemies growing up by not conforming to everyone esle's standards and being friends with everyone.

I would just delete their comment if I were you.

Don't let it bother you. Just remove it from existence!

Thanks everybody!

BTW, I don't want to delete that comment. I'm really enjoying the "smackdown." I hope that guy comes back to see what an idiot he is.

I LOVED that last comment someone posted, with the percentage of us that are high functioning, etc.
