i didn't mean any harm. i was just asking a question.
really did not mean to offend.

I didn't mean to offend either, or appear angry. Sorry if either happened.

yeah. no problems. i know i can be really blunt sometimes and say things without fully realising their impact. it's an AS thing, and i am sure a lot of us understand this. have a good day! it's even much worse for me in conversations. i am liable to ask someone - "why do you do such and such" out of the blue and they will look at me aghast.
no worries. nice to learn i may have been a bit blunt there. :)

That was a really weird exchange, Millie. 2ukenkerl just answered the question you asked, and you kind of got freaked out about offending him and got all defensive.

Maybe you don't have a problem with bluntness, but a problem with assuming you are being attacked in some way. It's almost like you didn't even read his response, you just responded to what you assumed his response would be or something.

Either way, it was a really strange exchange.

And I don't know anyone with savant abilities.

i know an autistic savant. i worship the ground he walks on. he's the most enchanting, kind, fun guy (when he's not reclusive, brooding and persevering, and sarcastic). i have mad love for him and i hope we will be friends forever.
:-)

i'm a music savant, its great to be able to play, from ear, any song i've ever heard, even once...but at the same time it does seem to intimidate people sometimes x

I don´t want to belittle your ability, but I can do that, too.
I don´t think that this ability makes you or me a savant.
I can also play guitar in every kind of open or alternate tuning intuitively.
I have learned swedish in three month out of a book and by talking to a former girlfriend of mine.
As a sideffect, I can understand and read danish, norwegian, flamish and some islandish.
German is my native tongue, that means it doesn´t count.
Maybe english does count, because it is also a foreign language to me.
I learned it in school, but instead of a few years, it took me a few month to learn (got me some english books).

But I don´t think that makes me a savant.

Just being curious: do you relate intervals to colors and emotions, too?

am dont know if have ever known a true autistic savant, the problem is,knowing if their level of skill is high enough to be classed as that,am have known a few profound auties with extremely great talents in art,
but because of how their level of autism was seen it was never even encouraged-any skill they did have was blanked by staff.

the story in original post of this thread sounds good.
