Yes.

I've felt that way ever since I was a child. I couldn't have articulated it then, but I felt it.

Today I am fortunate to have some friends who accept me and make me not feel that way, but I still do most of the time.

Welcome to the world of being Autistic, dude!

The only time I feel like I fit in is when I hang out a bit with my friends; and even then, I feel a bit out of place...as I'm smarter than the lot of 'em....

As Green Day once sang "I walk alone...."

And I realize I'm a tad on the arrogant side; I regret nothing.

I'm fortunate to have been able to make friends at university who do not make me feel smarter than them. They generally don't make me feel alienated either. After not having such an experience, at least on a regular basis, for the first 20 years of my life, I almost feel unsure about how to handle intelligent people who actually seem to like me. It's sort of the other side of alienation; cluelessness about what to do when not alienated because I am so used to being alienated.

You guys are so strange, I've never had any problems feeling alienated, it just comes along with being with other people.

So stop trying feel out of place, it'll come anyway. ;)

(Note: His headline said his problem is that he has difficulties feeling alienated, as in, he feels like he fits in.) :D

I also find I need so much to have someone to look up to. There seems nothing. A big part of my adult life is finding a 'someone', like a mentor, to give me some sort of direction and that. I've pretty much failed . . .

the problem there might be the fact you're searching for something you don't need. When I was a kid I looked around, then decided to find my own mentality. I'm a little different but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I do perfectly well, "feeling" alienated.
It is my view towards the world and the view of the world towards me.
And I don´t want to have it any other way.

I feel alienated almost all of the time. It is very hard for me to fit in with a group or even one on one with people. There are very few people I feel totally accept me and actually want me to be around them.
