So you have no first hand information or experience of them then, and yet you still you believe?

So what else have you seen on TV, which has caused you to believe in something? Do you believe for instance that you need Relacore, or that Smiling Bob will take his Enzyte pills and suddenly be popular with the ladies, or that with Kevin Tredeau's book you will have the cure for all afflications, including Autism?

I'm not sure if most do or not. Maybe you should make a poll question and ask people.

I've seen a few weird things in the sky, so yeah, as far as "unidentified flying objects," in the most general sense. As far as aliens, that would be cool, but seems unlikely to me.

Someone said X-Files caused a fear of UFO's; for me it was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Those Spielberg type aliens still creep me out. (Nothing personal, to any aliens reading.)

Come to think of it, I don't even believe in the Drake equation, it's childlike unscientific bs. Which only goes to prove that even with a PhD, some people can talk utter garbage which finds its way into college course work and text books as though it was scientific fact.

The evolution of intelligent Life on Earth is a bit of a fluke and would require an almost impossible set of circumstances; the ingredients for creating life however are fairly common everywhere, so life may exist elsewhere but it might be only microbes or basic animals.

Interesting, I have found the Rare Earth Hypothesis to be more plausible than any other hypothesis about extraterrestrial life, but I'm not certain, it all comes down to a matter of opinion in the end, about which idea makes more sense to one. I am skeptic about aliens and UFOs (popularly related to alien spacecrafts) nevertheless I find the issue quite interesting to get into.

Peter Ward's book is a compelling argument.

It is entirely possible to believe in UFO's without believing in extraterrestrials. Food for thought......

You should make this one a poll, because I really doubt that "most people with AS believe in UFOs", so the results might me interesting.

Have you conducted a properly formulated poll. If not, how do you know how many "believe".

I can only speak for myself but based on the premise that most other people with AS tend to be more open minded; the probability that other life exists somewhere else in the universe is pretty high. Some of these life forms may be more advanced than ourselves while others might not be quite as advanced. Here is another shocker; if they do exist, they're probably not little green men in round shiny spaceships and their intent is not the destruction of Earth.

Go to Northeastern Wyoming between Moorcroft and New Haven, Wyoming. Its a hot spot I use to live nearby and I saw them on a regular basis. Some of the craft are shiny circular disks, but I've seen triangular UFOs too. I don't know if they are US controlled or aliens but I'm sure as hell not going to find out.

As many have said above, I have seen things I could not identify. I do not therefore conclude that I have seen alien ships. The idea of aliens probing people surpasses my capacity for belief. I do, however, believe that people in hypnogogic states can feel and have vivid "memories" of being probed by aliens.

UFO’s are not something you can believe in or not believe in. Anything a person sees in the sky and is unable to identify is a UFO, even if is a bird or balloon or something. Now if you would have said, “why do people believe aliens are visiting the earth?” that would be another story entirely.

He is right, just becuase we can not say what a thing is does not mean it is an alien thing. I do not think it is likely that aliens are visiting the earth.

There was a long period when I was younger when I was prepared to accept the possibility of things like UFOs.

Of course, back then I thought I was a normal human being too.

The absence of any credible evidence for either hypothesis over several decades since has tipped the balance.

As a thought experiment, ask yourself - if there were races of beings who'd mastered the mechanics of civilisation and technology to the extent where they could be anywhere they wanted to be, why do you think they'd choose to be here?

I have no first hand information or experience of London. I think I shall deny its existence until I gain information/experience. :)

I know more possibilities than most, but there are a lot of things that even I can't identify!
