I walk fast since childhood... my dad used to have me walk with him to the train station, and he taught me to walk fast... so now that I'm older I walk even faster than him. I also have very long legs, which may also contribute.

I think AS symptoms are often reversed for SOME people. Specific symptoms But point is, you don't walk normal - you walk slow, not normal. And of course, there will be exceptions to that.

I found, generic example of AS symptoms:

30 symptoms match
5 were backwards (slow not fast as an example)
3 didn't match in any way

Wow, yet another quality of my existence that I can potentially attribute to AS. I tend to walk fast. I think it's because my mind is focused on the goal (the destination) and walking just gets in the way, so I try to get it over with as quick as comfortably possible.

I walk fast, and actually find it almost painful to walk slowly. If I'm with someone who walks slowly I prefer to walk ahead, then wait for them to catch up before haring off again. :D

I always walk extremely fast, when I can. It feels right, somehow.

Yes I do. I hate having to overtake people on narrow streets but I can't possibly walk at their pace, it drives me mad!
Even when I'm very early or have nowhere in particular to go I still walk quickly; I try to slow down but within a minute or so I'm back to my normal pace.

Yes I do. Like others here, part of it is to avoid contact with people. But, most importantly, it is to get from one place to another in the most efficient way possible.

I've never met a human being that can walk faster than I.

Recently I've been practicing walking slower, because of complaints about my pace, but I find allowing someone to pass me on the street to be unbearable.

That is exactly how I walk, people complain both about the speed and the trajectory. When I actually am drunk it's totally out of control.

I walk extra fast when I'm walking uphill, because walking uphill sucks and I want to get it overwith as quickly as possible.

I walk very fast, but I always walk at the pace of anyone who happens to be with me. I run every chance I get. When I drive to a place that has a big parking lot, I have no qualms about parking at the far end of it, and then running to cover the distance. I enjoy running and bounding.

No people tell me I walk like a madman though. The way I walk feels natural to me but apparently I walk like some kinda lunatic.

Very fast, I'm always told I'm running and I'm not which gets annoying.

Why walk slow when you can walk fast? Walking slow is a waste of time.
