I was wondering how many others on here have any form of sleep disorders, or parasomnias?

The night before last, my husband said that I awoke, and said some rude things to him that I don't have any recollection of saying, nor do I recall waking up. This has happened a few times in the past. Sometimes, I do wake up while I'm doing this, and I'll recall the situation vaguely. I think the technical name for it is confusional arousal. I usually make sense in what I'm saying during these episodes, but I'm almost always very hostile, saying things that I wouldn't normally say, and using words that I never use.

I also have a history sleep walking, but it is infrequent anymore. It used to be much worse during adolescence. I've also woke up to find myself acting out my dreams a handful of times.

I'm wondering, do sleep disorders occur more often in those with ASD? I know my boys will often wake up in the middle of the night talking, and playing quietly, but I don't know if they're awake when this happens, or if they recall doing it. I found a page talking about ASD, and sleep disorders here: http://books.google.com/books?id=u8EGK4ywjj0C&pg=PA44&lpg=PA44&dq=sleep+disorders+adult+parasomnia+autism&source=bl&ots=B_pniPE4UE&sig=PN6zElTcE8z6GsCM8Gc6-Lx7Xks&hl=en&ei=nJ8RSr-ACo3cNdG94Wo&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3#PPA46,M1 It wouldn't let me copy, and paste the text, so that's why I have to provide a link.

I've actually never had much problems going, or staying asleep, though I don't seem to need as much sleep as most people.

Guess maybe it's just me :? and not ASD related.

I take ages to fall asleep. I also wake up a lot.

Anyone else get sleep paralysis for a few seconds when waking? I've had it 2/3 times and I HATE it.

I'm wondering why people don't bother to search the forum, because if they did they would find endless threads on this subject and wouldn't create yet another thread

In my youth I had quite a history of weird sleep disturbances but I think they were all stress related. Maybe they manifested that way because of the way my brain functions.

Maybe I have missed it, but I haven't seen any threads about sleep disorders, as in sleep walking ect.. I have seen a lot of threads about having trouble falling/staying asleep, but as I previously stated that's not what my issue is.

er, sleep disorder is trouble falling/staying asleep. If you wanted to focus on 'sleep walking etc', which 'sleep disorder' encompasses, then you should have been specific in thread title.

As a child, I would often sleepwalk. Non-circadian sleep patterns. Remain a relative insomniac with an extended sleep cycle (~5.5 hours) and talk in my sleep. Have answered the phone and door in my sleep and had conversations.

I'm not sure if I quite remember the term for it, but I think it's called night terrors. When I wake up, in between being awake and asleep I have seen shadowy figures walking across whatever room I'm in. When this has occured, I have either had paralysis, or have felt my body shaking. It's hard to tell whether it's from stress, ASD, or my sleep apnea. I have a severe allergy to dust mites and often wake up with my throat feeling nasty and full of flem. I read an article that sleep apnea (hard breathing during sleep) might cause those things.
