What do you think of http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/8073432.stm ?

I have to say that it seems to mostly ring true, though I think there's a shallow bias (of course I think that--I'm an Aspie!) to the characterizations.

My favorite phrase is the (for "The Fun Lover") comment that goes something like 'The best way to approach is with light hearted banter and make them smile." WTFH is THAT?!

This kind of stuff is what flips the "holier than thou" arrogant switch in me...

The so-called "tips" sound like advice for cooking a steak which says "apply heat until done," or "don't tell sad stories to people who are crying or they will just cry more."

Like I said...it's this exact kind of stuff that does tempt me to look at NTs and say whatta bunch of morons....

...but....then....I remember: if they are that/this easy to predict and (well, let's face it, manipulate) then woo hoo!

(still secretly shaking my head in disdain, though  )

I hold my glass with both hands, for fear of shaking out the contents, or just dropping the whole lot!
What does that say about me?

Whut. I occasionally do all of those positions, though mostly Jack The Lad, The Gossip, The Wallflower, and The Fun Lover. Oh man, they really pegged me there...

srsly what pseudoscience is this and why do websites do this? :nerdy:

Re website....the scary thing is that it's the BBC. You'd think that they'd aspire to a slightly higher standard, but I guess not so much anymore. That's why I told them that they were slipping in a recent survey they had me complete as a regular user of some of their services...

I can see where the personalities would correctly "go with" the stances, but I DO NOT see where the reverse is true. Bad Venn Diagramming if you ask me.

my pinky sticks out, like those posh people hold their glass.

It's emphasized when I take a sip.

Stop scaring me like this :!: I do the same thing, and I always position my glass so my thumb is directly under the spot my lips touched the glass on the first sip.

Stop scaring me like that! 8O
Though I don't pay attention to where I hold it exactly, it's not at the bottom (that's just awkward), slightly at the top but not completely.

Aha, me too! I didn't think many other people did this. My father drilled this kind of etiquette into my head since I was young, and it stuck with me.

Me too! Pinky out, in the Queen of ice position to be specific. No matter what that I'm doing my right pinky is always sticking slightly outward from the rest of my fingers. My parents thought it was hilarious. They took lots of pictures of me holding my bottle, and cups that way. They thought it was a sign of prissiness. :?

With me I always hold it with three fingers and thumb as well (little finger sticking out) unless the drink/glass/container is heavy, generally in my right hand. I don't think anyone told me to do this though.

I just hold it, I don't know what else I can say.

Like this:

My pinky sits under the cup to reduce the chance of me accidently dropping it. Sadly, this is a very real chance, as occasionally I have something weird happen, and my grip will release slightly, and I have dropped things that I knew were securaly in my insanely tight grip. Its embaressing... I will be holding a pencil writing, and then something happens, not sure what it is, and somehow the next thing I know, I've dropped the pencil. At least with my pniky under it, if this happens, I might have the time to react and catch the cup.

That's funny, I hold my glass in the exact same way, and for the same reason! :o
