Indeed. I have dealth with stupid NTs the whole spring now. And all of them I was introduced to with having AS. I emediately get a "bad label" as it feels like.
People think they can treat me as s**t because I have my difficulties.
The worst thing is that they cant meet me even if I try to explain, Im judged and doomed as somebody WHO CANT!!

Im tired sick of it now so Im highly concidering starting with not saying a word from now on because, yes they dont understand :(

I don't tell people unless it's relevant or related to the conversation. I used to not tell people full stop.

I don't hide it persay, I just don't go around declaring it to everybody I meet. I don't see the point of doing that; sort of like someone with asthma going around and saying to people as soon as they meet them "I have asthma."

If people ask, I'm straight out and honest about it. Nobody has ever asked though, but one of my friends once said to me; "God you're so autistic" (as like a joking payout), and then when I told him I actually *was* autistic he was so embarrassed and shamed it was hilarious.

I don't try to hide it, as I see no point in doing so. Not to mention when I did try to, I failed at it.

No one has ever guessed that I have Aspergers. And even some people with AS don't believe me when I tell them. But I love talking about AS because I love psychology, and if someone will treat me different because of my AS, then I will simply not talk with that person.

I tell it to people all the time, but no one cares about it. They have their own special things to think about.

People don't think I have it, and I don't tell anyone.

I don't tell anyone of my diagnoses. In fact I met a woman yesterday at the AB/DL gathering near Salem and she told me her 17 year old is autistic and I didn't tell her I had a form of it. We just talked and then other people took over her by talking to her and she turned her attention to them. I am sure I made it a little obvious I had some traits just by things I said about myself and the fact didn't look at their eyes.

Yep, same with me. It's my current interest so it can be hard not to talk about it. Nobody believes me though. I've gotten into some arguments with people about whether or not I'm autistic... What do I care if people look at me differently?

I don't try to hide it. I don't think you could just tell, though.

As they never ask I never tell, also I view most of my medical matters as a private matter so I refuse to confirm or deny having any condition.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I can relate to most of you guys. I never told someone, no one did ever ask me and I think nobody suspect that I have Asperger's. So why waking up sleeping dogs? But I must say that I'm glad that there is something like Wrong Planet to talk about my Asperger's. The downside of not telling anyone is that you don't have anyone to talk about it when you want to.

I have told a few people that I am autistic, but only after they have already formed a solid opinion of who I am. I consider it part of my global education plan to dispel stereotypes.

Funny, though... if you tell someone you're autistic, there is often this sort of long pause, but then if you go on to say that you have AS, you're more likely to get, "Oh, okay. That's fairly common, right?"
