I'm the only one diagnosed. I do suspect my dad is on the spectrum, but he's closer to NT than me. He's borderline, and would rather not worry about looking into it, because it wouldn't really make any diffenence to him. He's happy the way he is, and don't care to make it any more complicated. He functions pretty well.

Yes I am.

Also no neurological conditions that are usually associated with ASDs in my family, no mood disorders or such either.

We are all either shy and/or quirky and/or obsessive and/or pedantic- The difference between them and me is they function where I cannot-as in relationships, careers and social networks.

Yes. It makes communication very hard. My mum used to work with heavily Autistic children, yet she still doesn't get me.

Yes, very much so. Nobody else in my family even has traits of AS. While I'm also the only one in my family with OCD, where I got my OCD from is obvious, since there is lots of OCD traits/perfectionism on my mother's side and lots of addiction (Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders) on my father's side. However, the AS is a mystery. I'm still trying to figure out why I'm an Aspie.

I know there are four cases, at least, in my family of varying forms of autism. I know I have Asperger's and I know two male family members on my dad's side of the family and one male family member on my mom's side.

I am the only female though. HAHA.

Yes I am in the closest family. My parents have many siblings, making my relatives many and a big family

But its only me and a female cousin who have AS diagnosis - and we are both adopted ... :?

I'm the only one in my family diagnosed with AS, many of my relatives exhibit certain traits but not enough to warrant a diagnosis.

I'm pretty sure I am although I hypothesize that my father secretly does due to similar characteristics (mostly relationship problems - he has 5 ex-wives, including my mother!)

Yes, although I have family members with other mental disorders and just generally eccentric behavior. I have two cousin who inherited schizophrenia from their dad (who isn't related to me) and a lot of people on my mom's side who are anti social, or just generally nervous in crowds. My grandpa was too nervous to eat in front of his own children!

My father and his twin brother both show some traits. Maybe not enough to warrant a diagnosis. Then again, they just might be higher functioning than I am. They're both on the line between "extremely eccentric" and "aspergers-ish", which is difficult (or impossible) to separate anyway. It all depends on where you draw the line. A matter of definition. (Though dad gets VERY upset if someone tries to give him the wrong teacup or spoon, so... yeah. Might very well be considered AS already.) Their mother (my grandmother) most likely had AS, though of course she wasn't diagnosed. (The diagnosis simply didn't exist yet.) So I guess it's in the family.

I am the only diagnosed one, but I think my dad may have it.

Im sure my dad is , fits the diagnosis to a tee.But he wouldnt believe it im sure, as he is removed from these cognitive sciences by the generation gap, as he's 68.
My maternal grandmother was diagnosed with schizophrenia at a late age of 49 back in 1971.Before then, I heard she was a bit of an eccentric , and I recently read that new research indicates a relationship between the two, as before there wasn't....... ? her brother was discharged from the korean war a "schizo"....the combat pushed him into this psychosis.
My mother commited suicide at 45, as she had a pyschotic break.... this was never diagnosed in time here of what this was, but it wasn't classic depression, as she had delusional beliefs.... is there more than a casual link here ?

Yeah, but some family members have other mental issues, but they're mostly caused by their parents abusing drugs.
