Here's a decent one. It's a somewhat conservative estimate, or at least it was for me.

I have been told that Mensa generally involves a lot of people who like puzzles and other stereotypically intellectual pursuits... What if you happen to like computer games, or writing, or art, instead? I don't think you'd like it no matter how smart you were. I don't think I'd like it. Puzzles are fine; I like them well enough; but I would much rather sit around playing Dungeons and Dragons or picking apart the physics of the warp drive with some fellow nerds.

It's a club for people who need the validation. I wouldn't join it if they paid me.

I wouldn't be bothered with Mensa, first off, the fees seem like something i couldn't afford. Second, i don't really seek fame -.- I'm somewhat aware of myself and i worry it could lead me down another ego trip -.- .

That test is harder than the standard IQ tests like WAIS, and I believe that there is some selection bias in that particular test, pushing the scores downward. You'd probably have a decent chance of getting a Mensa-worthy score on a "real" IQ test. What you want that to mean is up to you.

Perhaps with all the new anti-discrimination laws being passed these days a moron will be able to sue Mensa.

"They won't let me in just 'caus I'm dumb. That isn't fair!' :D

I'm in mensa. I joined after getting a high score on the WAIS test when my psychologist suggested I might find some 'people like me' there. I went to the book club, but the things the others wanted to say about the books were kind of boring. Also the socialising was stressful, so I stopped going. I play scrabble online with mensans, which is pretty good. But I don't think the mensa-dudes are really like me at all.

I didn't join for self-validation, or whatever. I was just trying to find where I fit. Turns out I don't really fit in at mensa. Oh well.

I don't think I'm smart enough to get into Mensa. Or, in other words, maybe I could be - but my ADHD means that I take too long at timed tests (always have - so I got special consideration at school where I got a little extra time per test), so I never do as well as I could. Pretty much I catch myself reading the same sentence over and over...with every question (even the super easy ones) and my mind constantly wanders, so I'm pretty slow.

I would like to be in Mensa simply because I really like talking to super smart people (you have such great intellectually stimulating conversations; for example my ex-boyfriend and my best friend in high school were both valedictory for their year level, and well above the top 1% of the state) but it would probably cost too much. Anyway, don't you have to be above the top 2%? I was only in the top 3% for my school leaving grade and I worked really really hard to get that. Say I had a really focussed day, and was on ritalin, I might just scrape in, but I don't think I would be as smart as the other people there (a.k.a. I'd be at the bottom of the dog pile  ).

I know what you mean, I think I got 132 on one test, and 122 on this one, 129 on another, and 160+ on another one :? (I think the third one was obviously bullsh*t. )

agredit is my little experiment at the moment to see if IQ is variable under different influences especially drugs and alcohol which would slow it down

I have a few vitamins that improve cncentration, so I will take them, it has rekindled my curiosity of psychology and neurology

maybe we should make an aspie equivilent to mensa well wrong planet is similar

If it suggests this about me, it can't be that accurate i'm afraid.

The official version of this test is known as the Raven Progressive Matrices. It is said to be a better test for us on the spectrum. Also, Aspies typically finish it faster than NTs do. It is said to be admissible for Mensa.

I took this online version and scored 135 which is pretty comparable to my Mensa entrance tests.

Marilyn Vos Savant supposedly has some books about how to improve your thinking skills and, consequently, your IQ, but typically it remains fairly constant (in adulthood) on a test like this one.
