It would look weird if you started using it in the store. If you buy it, everybody will just assume you are buying it for a baby or toddler. After all, it's not like they can buy one themselves. They all have to enlist an adult to go in and buy it.

Buying one is not an unusual thing at all,

neither is using one, go for it,

where you use it however,

and when you use it, well,

this might create discomfort for others!

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I suck on gourmet lollipops a lot when I want a "pacifier".. but it might be weird in a guy.

You could just buy the pacifier and move to Japan. Hang out in Harajuku or Akihabara where the cosplayers (reiya) dwell. Nobody would even bat an eye when you walked down the street.

Yeah, but it's just asking for cavities if you do it all the time.

Go for the pacifier... just be aware it will look very odd to use it in public, though only about as odd as sucking one's thumb.

Hmm... that is a good answer however not while having a dummy in your mouth behind the mask otherwise it might sound more like 'Esh I er orid abot shwan fu'.

I too have a dummy that I use in my own private space. It helps me because I have a tourette tic that makes my teeth slam together and it lessens the blow!
