Damn, you all read a ton!

In the past year I've probably read 30-35 books and I think that would be a new record. The amount I'll read for pleasure varies quite a bit depending on what I'm up to (whether I'm in school or not, whether I have a job that allows me reading time, etc.) but I probably read 15-20 a year on average. I do enjoy reading a lot but I have to be sort of careful because it's relaxing and I have a tendency to fall asleep

I read a variety of random stuff, probably 2/3 fiction 1/3 nonfiction.

Probably people who read an average sort of number, say 12-30, aren't posting.

About 4-5.

Why so few?

Here's a list of the last few books I read:

Atlas Shrugged
The Fountainhead
Anna Karenina
1984
War and Peace
Brothers Karamazov
Atlas Shrugged again

Every one of those books is looooong, with the exception of 1984.

Depending on how long since I've hit the Goodwill cheapo table, between three and seven a week, usually. I have to get the cheap paperbacks because a) they're cheaper than library overdue fines and b) they take up less room. Even though I purge from time to time, I have to keep the parts of my favorite series and authors.

Usually SF, fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries.

Zero.

I have never had a passion for reading ever since I was in school. My worst subject was english. It seemed that I couldn't grasp the true meaning of what I was reading and understand the story completely. It's kinda like when somebody is talking to me. Sometimes it just goes in one ear and comes out the other. I've always been more of a visual learner

Somewhere between 20 and 40.

When I said "WOW" to your plot in the other thread, I almost added "Kurt Vonnegut lives!" but I thought I shouldn't compare writers - otoh, if you put it *that* way ... :)

My favourite is The Sirens of Titan - did you read it, do you like it?

Depends what type of books.
I find myself reading a new fictional book about every week or two.
I like reading fact books about every few months, because I can read about most of that stuff online.
Books that improve skills like drawing I buy 3-4 every month or so.

Since april I've read about 23 books. Probably by the end of this year it'll be around 40.

As a child, I read around 200-300 a year. After I reached my twenties, I have slowed to 20-60 a year.

Does it count if you are re-reading the same book over and over again?

I don't keep track, but it's not many any more. I read scientific papers mainly and get through a lot (again, I don't keep track). The majority of books I do read are scientific texts. Reading's my main activity.

Let's see: six to ten library books a week, a couple of dozen bus books - new fiction - a year, a dozen or so technical texts spread across the software spectrum and maybe another dozen autism or general science. Then there's politics, and then there's the web...

I think I should cut down

I think maybe like 50-60 books or so. Not sure though, it can be higher.

I probably read up to 10 maybe more books a year but, then again there are times when I feel that there are difficulties in being able to read not relating to AS mind you..

Probably around 200. If you were to ask how many new books I read then it would be significantly less. I like to re-read my favourites again and again. I just love the smell of old books. I have quite a few first editions and like picking up more at book fairs. I love Jane Austen and have just finished a new book combining my favourite things- Jane Austen and zombies! The book is called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and is very funny!

Between 30 and 40 I guess. Depends on what I'm reading though. Fictional book might take two to three days, history book might take seven to ten days and philosophy book might take between two to six weeks. I do try and read a book a week but rarely manage it.
