It seems there's a d missing. The correct form is Fennoscandia.

Well, have not heard of it anyway, I'm not accusing u of misspelling!

OddFinn, one goes all the way to Finland and at long last meets a polar bear...and it's made of plastic? Where are the real polar bears?

moseeeez! I've been wondering about you! How are you? And yesterday more than ever, because I had to do all my research on Norway by myself. :D Glad to know you and your computer are back in the game :)

Now nem en kepje and tell me, what's the furthest north you've been? From my research yesterday, Norway doesn't have really semi-deserted areas...but would living up north make it easier on Aspies to find jobs?

Well, Svalbard really is not only semi deserted, it also is a great place, regarding to nature and such.
I've been there.
In terms of accepting, I don't know. I still play normal..

All of that, besides the eskimos, as I said I've been there. Think Norway would be a great country for you to live in. Nature and all...

Yes, I love trees and forests and cold weather and salmon sushi and the most stable country in the world and the language (at least when you talk to your dog). Do you think I could find a job at my age and with AS in the very north, since probably no one wants to work there?

The Nordic countries are your best bet. They are quite a tolerant people though some of them might have more of a problem with you being an immigrant sponging off their benefits than your Asperger's. Denmark in particular has a big anti-immigration movement at the moment.

Sad but true :( (I have to tell that I'm not part of that!)

But the anti-immigration is mostly about Muslims. In the debate, it's them they speak about all the time.
As a Jew you wouldn't hear anything bad, not from them either (noone wants to be Antisemitic).

I recommend the northern parts of Norway, by the Arctic Ocean. The Ocean never gets coated by ice, so the winters are mild. And the landscape there is amazing. If you know several languages, you could find a nice job in the tourism "industry".

In Finland, you could consider Salo or Turku. Even though there's someone in the city council of Turku who has been convicted of racist crimes.

Oh, Lab Pet is Fairbanksian - Interior Alaska. Our sister city is in Siberia. Looking at the latitude, Interior AK is in regions akin to Northern Finland, Northern Sweden, Greenland, etc. In winter solstice here there is 3hrs 43 mins of daylight.

I love Alaska and our Aurora Borealis. Hi to other Northern Wrong Planet inhabitants, and to Greentea! Greentea, you might like Alaska. In February we have Fur Rendezvous, then Iditarod. Greentea, our Univeristy has ~ 9,000 (this includes grad students/researchers, such as myself - but also our staff, etc). And tourism.

Hi OddFinn, unlike your part (near the ocean) Alaskan Interior is frigid cold, with extreme winter temperatures (like minus 60 degrees F). Metal is brittle and vehicles have an 'Arctic leash' to keep engine blocks from freezing. Interior Alaska is a desert, an Arctic desert. And very very beautiful! Boreal forests and a lot of wildlife. Rivers and nearly bottomless huge lakes, mountains (such as Denali).

I'm in the sciences; UAF has an excellent Neuroscience/Chemistry Dept, plus much more. Our geophysical institute is awesome, in part to our vantage of being technologically advanced in the Far North. Fairbanks has superior technology but coupled with what might be considered, by some, as 'third world' living. Lab Pet has lived w/o running water, electricity, phone, etc. I miss being by the fire. But our unique lifestyle works with our 'other technolology' if you know what I mean. I think I get one TV channel, for example.

In the Neurosciences at University we do study circumpolar health, such as circadian rthym and even hiberation since this helps us understand how light effects sleep, our uptake of neurochemicals, etc. The indigenous of Y'pik & Inuit Eskimos.

Greentea, I've sometimes wondered about where you live too!

Aurora is a magnetic phenomona and moves through the sky with varying colors, sometimes with sound.

Yes, you can! And people do want to work/live here - unparalleled beauty and pristine. I know you're well educated & talented.....you could find a place and Alaska is a huge state w/ a lot of variety.
