My situation is the opposite. I talk slower than everyone else.
When I was a kid, I used to talk so slow that I needed speach therapy. I used to drag out every syllable in every word, and I wasn't even aware that I was doing that.

Yes. I've had many many people tell me I talk a million words a minute. But that can also just be because I was born in NJ.

That describes me to a t.

Same here! I'm often told I "talk 90 miles a minute" (though that sentence baffles me haha) and just today I started telling my sister a story about something I'm extremely interested in and she just smiled politely and nodded and then when I finished I laughed and said "You didn't understand a word I just said, huh?" and had to shorten my story considerably for fear of annoying/boring her to death! But then when I'm around a stranger or an authority figure I shut down completely and only speak when spoken to. I'll act like a timid wild animal at first but once I attach to someone they're in for a long conversation~ I tend to type too much, too...like right now haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one like this, though! XD

I do, but here's the thing:

I'm under the belief that if I actually slow down to better explain what I have to say, most NTs won't pay much more attention than they normally do.

I've tried explaining it to people in the past, but they're absolutely positive people would find interesting what I have to say.

Oh I'm sure they would....either when I become famous, or out of the mouth of an NT..

No

My sister on the other hand is seriously fast. WPM is off the scale. People often ask her to repeat. She is pretty NT.

I'm usually scared and nervous talking to new people aswell and then when I open up it's a bad thing LOL! I'm also glad I'm not the only one. I hate having to repeat myself since IMO it makes me feel like I'm calling my family stupid (which I'm not) I remember in Psychology class the teacher was calling the answers off and said don't make me repeat myself then someone asked her to repeat the answer and she laughed!! ! :-)

I also have this thing where my voice sounds normal to me, but hyper-fast to anyone else...I'm told I talk like a machine gun.

I speak decidedly on the slower end of the normal range, but not so slow as to draw attention. Speaking is a fine motor movement, and all of my fine motor movements are noticaeably slow and occasionally just plain clumsy.

Fast or slow pitch topic

Unless I am excited, as Maggiedoll. Usually I am slow, as when i am making a speech or a monologue. People get impatient. This is one reason why I do not talk much to others.

In many ways, I tend to talk fast, as often I find it hard to not only slow down but, I have a great difficulty in being able to get my words out in the way I see them in my mind and all..
