If you don't like them then don't go.

As for me I can not function without my routine visits to my counselor.

Someone once said, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." I don't know if that helps the conversation. Maybe it's meaningless jibberish. Whatever I just said.

I have taken psychology classes and seen several counselors and I do not agree with many of these "facts." Psychiatrists and psychologists are there to help. You make it seem as though psychiatrists are out to get everyone who is not perceived as "normal" when in fact they can only "target" people who see their behavior as an interference with their everyday life. Also there has been scientific evidence that supports the notion that schizophrenia, bipolar, and depression are caused by genetic mutations and chemical imbalances in the brain. I will agree that some psychiatrists are corrupt (though I have never had a bad experience with a psychologist) but that is true with any medical profession. If you have had a bad experience with a psychiatrist, just stop seeing them. If you don't like your medication, just tell your psychiatrist that you don't want to take it. If they keep prescribing it to you, just get a second opinion with a different psychiatrist. Just because you had a bad experience with one (or several) psychiatrists does not mean that all psychiatrists are corrupt. Next time you want to give 25 "facts" as reasons to take down psychiatry, support them with some evidence.

As several people have pointed out, despite this list's criticism of psychiatry for an alleged lack of evidence, there's no evidence at all offered for any of the list's claims.

Clearly, many of the things the list says are rubbish. For instance, a psychiatrist born in 1965 and who began practising in 1990 obviously hasn't been experimenting on vulnerable people since the 1930s or contributed to the Holocaust - unless the psychiatrist is also an accomplished and revolutionary physicist.

It's psychiatry as a practice. Psychiatrists have not always been ethical. At times, medicine, in general, was highly unethical. Doctors thought they were acting in the best interest of society when they promoted euthanasia. They believed it was the right thing to do and it wasn't evil. Doctors can believe they are in the right and be completely off mark. They can be decieved by fallacies. It was in the best interest of the patient to operate without anesthesia. "The road to hell can be paved by good intentions". (but not always, it can be paved with indifferent, clueless, and bad intentions as well)
That's not even counting "for profit" medicine.
They are not perfect. They are not God. They can believe what they offer as "treatment" is the best course but they aren't infallible. Caveat Emptor and enter at your own risk. You, alone, are responsible for your own well being.

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

Whether this is coming from Scientology or not it sure looks like a case of trying to trash or discredit one form of mental health help in an attempt to steer you to another brand of mental health assistance.

Same thing with the homeopathic cure and treatments and other unconventional "treatments."

The thinking goes: "Modern/conventional treatments are bad and unhealthy for you. They only want your money and are in the business of keeping you sick so they can line their pockets. Don't trust them." and then; "By the way, we have just what you need to cure your ills right over here.... enter the tent and step right up...."

I smell a rat.

That quote's usually attributed to Freud.

I'm not a fan of scientology, but I'm definitely not a fan of psychiatry. In fact, I rank psychiatrists and psychologists near the same ranking as lawyers, politicians, judges, pimps, and drug dealers. I would ming giving the one I havd to go see a nice big hug while I bite his face off.
