What exactly got you to brush your teeth? How was it hard for you, and how did you overcome your problem? I need some advice as I am having problems doing so, and I am worried about my oral hygeine.

I made a game of it and tried to see how many days in a row I could brush twice a day. My personal best is around seven months.

I always brush as soon as I get up, because I need to feel the freshness.

Flossing is a chore.

If you are worried, I have found that listerine is a quick and easy measure that can really help a lot.
It kills germs and to some extent, keeps your gums healthy.

What made me brush originally, like most things, was my strict father.

Never could get me to floss though.

Same here I class my self as not being able to do it but that isn't the case, I have the coordination to do it but i'm just too hypersensitive

I ended up with 8 cavities all at once in 8th grade......ouch as I didn't have a gentle dentist. Yeah that'll inspire a person to brush their teeth better. But then I got lazy again, EVER GET AN INFECTED TOOTH?........not a good thing, the root canal actually felt wonderful.

I just joined. I haven't been diagnosed-except with ADHD. I am soo glad to have discovered the website b/c I have always tried to understand why I didn't quite fit the ADHD profile exactly. I talked to a professor and told her I thought ADD had components of Autism. Now I understand a little more...Glad to be here. I don't have trouble brushing my teeth b/c I am so worried about people getting close and bad breath worries me...But before I graduated...on the day of a big test I would vomit if I brushed the back molars too vigorously.

Do you not do it because of the hypersensitivity issues? Or for some other reason?

I've always brushed my teeth without problem, but I used to hate flossing.

I didn't floss until a year or two ago, when my gums and teeth started really hurting and I thought I was in for it. I didn't want them to hurt, and I wanted to be able to continue eating all the junk food to which I am accustomed, so I started flossing every night. Every time I thought of skipping a night I thought of how I wouldnt be able to enjoy my junk food if I didnt (because it would hurt) and as I love my junk food, that worked pretty well. Plus , I use those flossers because they are much easier than traditional floss.

Whenever you feel lazy about brushing your teeth, think about what would happen to your teeth rather than the relief you get from not brushing your teeth. This way, you will feel motivated to brush your teeth.

I've allways brushed my teeth twice a day without problem and actually I *have* to do it otherwsie don't feel right (and routine is important!).
Anyway, I *hate* flossing! I could never do it. Because my teeth are very close together I have to put a lot of pressure on the wire and then I worry it will suddenly cut into the gums that are between the teeth..oooaaaagghhh! (chills).

I brush my Teeth very well. It's the Flossing that I can't be bothered with. I'm too interested in other things to bother with Flossing, until I get a Postcard in the Mail, telling me that it's time for a check-up. It's durring the two weeks before the check-up that I go into a Twice a Day Flossing Frenzy.

Long, long struggle trying to figure out how to do it consistently and do it well.

As far as equipment, I got a long flosser (it's shaped like a toothbrush, but has floss things on the end) and an electric toothbrush (it beeps to tell you to switch from one quadrant of the mouth to the other, and turns off when it's done).

As far as assistance, someone (without talking at all, although that's a peculiarity of mine possibly, I can't handle verbal prompts with toothbrushing) hands me the flosser, then when I get done with that, they hand me the toothbrush. Ideally this happens at least twice a day.
