I wear glasses and have almost a dozen pairs of clip ons. I wear them all the time driving and most of the time I am outside period. I get headaches if I am outside without the for longer than a few min. I also like the distance they put between me and others.

Sunglasses? I don't like them, for the most part, unless I am at a place where the sun is really bright. I don't like the feel of them. If I have to, I can stand them, but just hate them. I hate a lot of things on my body, even clothes ... but we all have to wear those.

I wear glasses all the time, so when I go out and it's too bright I use a pair of clip-on tinted lenses. They're actually pretty good looking.

I don't wear glasses to avoid people, though. You'd really need to get some of those 70's era mirrored glasses to pull that off. Even then, lots of people will talk to you anyway because everyone else is wearing glasses and you're no different.

When I want to isolate myself I use an MP3 player. Nothing says "don't talk to me" as clearly as totally ignoring someone because you can't hear them. :-)

My sister's boyfriend does that too. He might actually be able to hear the other person, but they don't know that. 8)

And then somebody will try to 'start a conversation' by tapping you on the shoulder and demanding to know what you're listening to. Telling them that you publish your music subdirectory to your web site is not going to convince them to shut up, I suspect.

Ooh, I hate people like that. With me, it's my nice interesting book, and I never fail to get some annoying person to come up and ask what I'm reading--and I cannot summarize books for ANYTHING. Gah.

I definitely need my sunnies if I'm having one of tired, emotional days where I'm on the verge of having a good cry at any given moment. That just gets you all kinds of attention that you don't want, however well-meant it may be. What the world really needs is a pair of sunglasses with a tear drain at the bottom, that runs it all down to the back where nobody sees it...

I love this! Ditto to most everyone except the ones that don't wear them. I agree with eipsa when she said she has 'sunglass anxiety'. I do too, sorta. I used to by cheap sunglasses (no reference to the ZZ Top song)...anyway.... because I didn't have to like them all that much. I knew it only a matter of time till I lost them. But then my hubster bought me a pair of Oakleys. I was scared to death. Ohmigod! how soon would I have to confess that I had left them-who knows where. So I bought one of those dorky strap things. My son died laughing at me but he does that alot anyway. Guess what! I've had them for a year or so. I bought my husband a pair and he lost them the first day. AHH sweet revenge. It comes to those of us who wait! Anyway, I didn't make him feel like a loser for losing them. No pun intended- Well maybe a little one. I just went out and got him another pair the next day and bought him a dorky strap too.
On another note....UVA & UVB rays can harm your eyes. Make sure you get polorized lenses (if you can) and make sure they extend far enough around to protect your peripheral vision too. (I know they may not look right and some of you may not be able to commit but just remember this)

First of all my eyes are definitely real sensitive, driving without em toward sunset or during that first sunny winter day after a new snow would be wretched. Another thing, my facial muscles tend to only have so much energy - if I'm squinting for much more than a few minutes my muscles start to twitch, at worse I've even seen my eyebrows come down in that classic corky-faced kind of look, nasty. Other motorists are another thing as well, on days where I know I'm looking like crap and I don't want to invite hostilities I wear up just to help cover my eyes up since they tend to be people's first tip-off that there's something up with me (at least when I'm overloaded or feeling beat up in general).

I hate sunglasses and can't stand the way they feel on my nose! I grew up in Florida and was light and heat sensitive and sick alot! I took aspirin and squinted because the sun gave me headaches but I could never bear to wear sunglasses!
