nothing in particular--a wide variety of music that appeals to the ears and the mind's eye. i look for music with an intriguing visual soundscape, rich in pattern and color with an attractive flow--crisp shapes and vibrations that weave in and out of one another. give me a pop track with corny vocals backed by two chords, muffled bassline and a simple beat and i'll toss it out. it has to look cool.

melody in music is my guilty pleasure, though.

i've got a lot of on-and-off bands that come and go in phases, but my two faves are Dir en grey and The Mars Volta. these guys have managed to intrigue me like no other.

Alright... Well, I don't listen to mainstream music because it's popular. I listen to it because I like it, because it makes me feel good. Yeah, I guess people with AS are much less prone to mass influences than the rest, although those who try really hard to fit in would be a notable exception. I imagine those people are also less likely to be here on this forum.

I agree. I listen to anything that creates pleasant associations in my mind, including certain mainstream music.

Rap and RnB mostly, but I'll listen to anything else I happen to like the sound of too.

That, and opinions about 'quality' of music is highly subjective.
My mom's music annoys the hell out of me, but she doesn't think it's crap quality. If she did, she'd listen to something else.

I have very eclectic music tatses. For example, I love listening to EBM and powernoize but I also love listening to swing and rock'n'roll too. I'll listen to anything though if I like it regardless of genre.

Personally, I've always like pop. I don't know why but the simple messages, and the electronic beats make me really happy. My favorite right now is Lady Gaga and just so you know I was obsessed with her WAY before anyone knew about her. I successfully predicted her rise to superstardom.

Most of my favorite stuff is from the '80s.

I love music with a good beat; stuff that's not depressing. For some reason, even if there was depressing music from the '80s, it still had a great beat to it...it's kinda weird.

I LOVE synthesized music.

I like some stuff from the '50s-'70s, also Ragtime Jazz/Honky Tonk, Calypso w/ Steel Drums, and Country/Western.

Those folks who say "I like everything"....I ain't one of 'em

It seems many NTs tend to like particular genres of music a lot or particular artists..

I don't really have a favorite genre or artist.. there always seems to be a few songs from every genre and artist that really catches my attention.. but to call any of them my favorite would be a bit far fetched.

I really lean more towards electronic (EBM, industrial, agrotech...). I also enjoy some classical (I can't really do Mozart, though). Music that has a steady beat, a tune that stands out, or amazing vocals are what are mostly on my mp3 player :)

Bands I love:

Combichrist
Covenant
Curve
Decoded Feedback
Depeche Mode
Funker Vogt
Garbage
Gorillaz
In Strict Confidence
Informatic
Juno Reactor
kidneythieves
KMFDM
Massive Attack
Rotersand
Sneaker Pimps
Theatre of Tragedy
Velvet Acid Christ
VNV Nation

80s Goth Rock / Deathrock is my favorite. I also like Post-Punk, Punk, and some random stuff. Bauhaus, Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Sex Gang Children, and Cinema Strange are a few favorites.

Undead.... Undead..... Undead......!

I like heavy metal, 60s, 70s and 80s (oldies), classic rock and some modern. I'm pretty eclectic though- I love disco while also loving Lordi and bands like that. Basically anything I can listen to. My favourite songs are usually quite repetitive or sound good to my ears.

I notice a taste for EBMish stuff amongst some people here. I like just about everything that answers to the name 'industrial' or 'darkwave', but also many other things. My personal faves are:

Diary Of Dreams
Rammstein
Project Pitchfork
VNV Nation
Covenant
Front 242
In Extremo
Wumpscut
Kirlian Camera

I do DJ on occasion.......my setlists can be found here:
