And what that has to do with anything Aspergers is . . . :?:

It is something it is entertaining to listen to peoples' stories about.
But so far no one has told me, "Hi studly, I'm an alien, here's my number, let's go out Saturday night, we can take my ride"

What IDIOT wouldn't believe in aliens!?!? In the US, especially SOUTHERN states, we have a BIG problem with aliens! Everyone calls them illegal, or undocumented, but congress wants to make them all citizens! HEY, ASK A STUPID QUESTION...

And UFOs exist also! HECK, when the stealth bomber came out, IT was unknown! And the STEALTH part REALLY just hides the identity.

GEE, if they want to ask you a loaded question, they should be ACCURATE!

Speaking of alien kidnapping, I might well take the bait if the pick up line went something like "Hey handsome, I'm bored with kidnapping humans, how about for a change of pace you kidnap me."

One alien kidnapped a man's son, and he JUST got him back YESTERDAY! YEP, alien kidnappings happen ALSO!

i would have told him yes, certainly there has to be other life forms in the universe. but he was just probably testing you for some schizophenia. if your reasons are based in reality you shouldnt feel ashamed to say that yes, you do believe in aliens

Gary McKinnon is apparently obsessed with UFOs. I wonder if that has anything to do with this. I personally believe in aliens and UFOs. Given that the Universe is so vast, I think that it is highly unlikely that we are the only living creatures that exist in the Universe.

Other than the Scientology-infused response I posted earlier, I'd also say something like this: "I have no idea. Aliens may be out there, but I couldn't care less. The topic just never appealed to me." This way, you show the therapist that aliens aren't an issue for you, and he/she won't gain anything from questioning you about it. The sad truth is that in therapy, you often have to give the "right" answers to get the most benefit.

Was the psychiatrist performing a general assessment or does he/she already know you have Aspergers? Because if the psychiatrist knew that you have Aspergers I dont know why he would ask you that question. In the US/Canada, if you're diagnosed with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder, you can't be diagnosed with a psychotic-like disorder (e.g Schizophrenia) although if the psychiatrist was performing a general assessment, I wouldnt be too surprised although the psychiatrist could have been more general, for example he could have asked if the person believes in conspiracy theories (for example). Although asking a question like the alien question is rarely used as it is known to deter patients from coming back for further visits due to the fact that the patient will be embarassed that the psychiatrist thinks the patient believes in aliens. Sorry if that was hard to understand. This type of technical thinking is called Mesmerization.

That would have been hilarious if the OP said that. It is a true statement (alien = not citizen) LOL
