Not really. I wouldn't want to cure what makes me myself, because I think being an Aspie can have advantages. :)

LOL! (Repeatedly)

Neither me.
If I was 'cured' I wouldnt necessarily have my level of awareness; and this I love!

I have no doubt that my AS contributed to me developing depression. I'd like to be cured of the depression but not of AS. I was born with AS, I don't know any different way of living but I was not always depressed & I'd like to return to how I was before.

HELL NO!

What is there to be "cured" from?
My "sick" tendency to search for logic behind things?
My "sick" tendency to follow my interests?
My "sick" attachment to the ones I love and care about?

So I have some problems understanding social situations right away. So what. I still can analyze them later, and study it, to be better than people without autism...

My tactile sensitivity is the only thing that I would like to get rid of, at least some of it. And still, I love being an aspie. The are much more pros than cons, and it's worth it. I would never want to change myself. That's who I am, and it's not bad as people picture it.

No...I would rather die. In fact it is nothing to cure....it is just part of who you are. By the way really crap thread idea.

All people should just accept that we are all somehow different from each other and appreciate it, rather than put a tag on anything that isn`t exactly what we/they collectively imagine as normal.

Oh and um answer to original question would be no  :)

This sounds like a recipe for a lot of future problems. The spouse of an aspie needs as much help as the aspie in the relationship -- it's a couple thing. Have you ever been for counseling as a couple, with a psychologist who specialises in AS? Or to an aspie-NT partners support group? It is really important, IMO. Even my business partner and I have been for counseling together, and we're not even married.

I'd want to be cured if they take away the problems that I experience with AS, dyslexia and ADHD but I didn't lose any of my skills.
There are NT authors, photographers, scientists - why should I think I am any better?
Some people here are probably happy with what you have but I can't work, have social and romantic relationships, be independent, have to put in extra hours of studying to get mediocre marks, and can never go to a new location without freaking out.
Just saying, having AS is not always a good thing.

Pretty much that.

If this "cure" would alleviate the negatives without disrupting the positives then sign me up, baby.

I'd like my depression, anxiety, executive dysfunction, and inability to focus to be cured. Those things are a major problem, because they've consistently kept me from being able to hold down a job or be the kind of mother my kids need and deserve.

Those aren't necessarily AS symptoms, though.

I would like to be able to live a normal functioning life, but i wouldn't want to change my personality or anything.

If this poll had a "Yes and No" option, I'd choose that.

No.

I have no malice towards people who would want a cure, either, just as long as it's not purely for self hate. Also, I'm not sure a cure would b 8O e very likely, either, considering how complex the whole spectrum of autism is. 8O
