Both things have been said about me frequently. People even mistook me for some kind of drug addict when I was still in elementary school because of my eyes.

I hate it when people tell me I look tired....because they usually say...."You must be tired".....I hate the assumption....

Just like I hate the assumption that I am a stoner.

I notice some of the ppl that have posted their pics do.

As for me, I think I look more spazzy like I'm on speed or something.

When my son was a baby, everywhere I took him, people said he looks tired. Sometimes, he would have just woken up from a 2 hour nap. This was before I knew he had AS, and it would really bother me. He still acts really tired some days. His therapists at school said it may be because he has low muscle tone and it takes more energy for him to do things. Sometimes I worry about him seeming so tired. He also has dark circles under his eyes. However, I do too, and as far as I know I am NT. The more I read on WP, I am wondering if I do have some AS traits. I don't like bright lights, and I like dark rooms. However, I am very social, so I guess maybe not. I think my husband definitely has traits, but I think I might have some minor ones too!

I've had bags under my eyes for as long as I can remember, and I've been told I always look tired (I am usually tired though).

I would get you both diagnosed, AS most of the times runs in the family/genetic. My dad f.e. also seems to have AS (that's why I'm so annoyed in his surroundings even though he is a loving and caring man :( ).

yep, I too have experienced this. every time I came into work when i used to work, co-workers always thought I was stoned, or sick. Doesnt help that my skin is always pale either, and that i am immune to tanning.

I also have extremely pale skin :( Is this common in AS or something?? I hate it, it f***s up any self-esteem I have. I tried everything to get a better skin. Mine even seems a bit yellowish frequently.. :/

I recall a time in high school when I was walking home, and some random woman who apparently worked in a store on that block stopped me to tell me she had seen me walking past plenty of other times, that she had been watching me (!) and she could tell I was on drugs. She kept going on about how she wasn't condemning me, but I needed to get some help. At that time, I'd never even tried alcohol except for one time when I was seven, and I had a sip of vodka thinking it was water. I've never tried any recreational or "street" drugs to this day. I told her I wasn't doing drugs, and she basically called me a liar. I rushed home in tears, and told my Mom the whole thing. She knew me well enough to know there was no truth to that. My parents pretty much knew where I was at all times, and I had no after-school job or social life, so I didn't go many places. I described the woman to her, and told her where she worked. My Mom went to speak to the woman. This woman told her that I appeared to be on drugs because she'd see me walking past every day with my head down, seeming to take no notice of my surroundings. She told my mother that a car had almost hit me one day, and I had barely noticed. I think there were probably other times when people hinted at similar suspicions, but that's the one that sticks out in my mind.

Hahaha.

I too have been accused of being high, mostly by my mother in my teenage years. But now that I'm actually high sometimes, nobody accuses me of it!

EXACTLY! Just dealing with everyday sensory input tires me out. On a good day I look tired on a bad day I look like death warmed over.

Count me in too, it feels like that with me too.... But only when i'm tired and exhausted after a very long socializing day... it just drains me out.
The only alternative is i'm eating much more than I used to... Its actually helped me abit :D

Also try eating more energetic foods and drinks, maybe that might help too...

I am with you all on this. I always look tired these days because I always am tired. Heh. That pesky life... Were it not for coffee, I think I would be on the floor passed out right now.

Ditto, word for word.

It's been said that I look like a walking corpse, a drug addict and about to fall down from exhaustion.

None of which are true, but it's not exactly pleasant to hear. :/

Today at the eye doctor she commented on how one of my eye lids was "droopy". I asked her if I was developing a lazy eye and she went on to say lazy eye is a general term for lots of things. NT answers usualy always tend to go absouelty nowhere. My parents are always thinking I am tired and as young as two, I had constant "dark circles" under my eyes.
