I wouldn't use the word impossible but my parents find it diffcult to live with me because of my routines and the way i behave.

My mum often tells me that I'm impossible to live with and when I was younger, she often said to me that I should go and live with my father.

I know that I have my differences, we all do. However there's a little thing called TOLERANCE that people need to learn because no matter who likes it or doesn't like it, people on the spectrum have got to live somewhere just like everybody else.

I think it's easy to live with NT's.

I would like to hear an elaboration on this. Could you please explain some reasons why you believe it is easy to live with NTs?

Because not everyone on the spectrum has it to the same extent, it will vary by person.

I have never been told that I am impossible to live with.

No, they're hard to live with if they are in your personal space and move things around and make messes and get in your way. Also the fact of them not understanding you.

Because I find them very nice, and they treat me very nice, I love it how they give me hugs and stand up for me when I go through tough times, most of my friends are NT's by the way.

I think we have gone off the original topic of this thread. It is supposed to be about---are autistics hard to live with. I will have to think about this because I believe potentially the answer is "it's possible."

no. other people are the impossible ones. when people are different the majority always get designated as non-weird but living with people who like loud stuff and bright lights drives me insane. I like loud music but only if it's good. I am pretty intolerant though...I guess it's just the neuro stuff. I reeeeeaaalllly don't want to watch your shows or listen to your music or deal with your presence in my space. So if you just stay in the closet most of the time we won't have a problem.

Well, my mum threatened to leave my brother and I and called us pigs when we were younger, if that's any indication... 8O

I think we can be difficult to live with quite a lot of the time, but other times I get the feeling the facts of how hard we are to live with are manipulated for the agenda of whomever is speaking about us. They want to be hopelessly emo and hope for a cure, they paint us as inhuman monsters. They don't want a cure, they paint us as the easiest things in the world. Of course, this isn't true for everyone who holds these views.

I am difficult to live with I know this because it's impossible to live with myself sometimes!

I am difficult to live with. I know it. I try not to be, but I just don't succeed.

To the OP....

I am 36 also, engaged to a wonderful man who does not have AS, have a 15 year old son.......

And wonder......how did I DO all of this?

I am very, very tired.......if it weren't for my man, I would live on my own with my son. I have done enough years of pretending that I can live with people.
