Its about 2:30am right now. I am *really* tired, my eyes are bright red. I just checked the temperature and it is right now 29C (~84F). Almost feels like its burning where my body touches the bed for more than a couple minutes making it impossible to get comfortable. Got no air con or fan, there is no real breeze here either.

Anyone got any tips that may help with getting to sleep/cooling down? Forecast shows this sort of weather is going to continue for at least the next week.

*starts melting* :coffee: :ncool:

This happens to me every summer

I usually end up sleeping with either no blanket or a really light one, with the windows open, and in my underwear.

I got nothing aside from that

This happens to me in the summer, as well. I can't stand it.

If its too hot I sleep downstairs on the couch where it is cooler. Heat rises so at the end of the day my South facing Bedroom is always hot. I can't sleep without some sort of blanket or sheet. A large fan blowing towards you may help also. I hate the heat.

I put a blanket and my pillow on the ground and keep the window open, it doesn't do much without a breeze, but the floor tends to be a bit colder.

Around here I have the same problem when it hits 90 degrees F +. What I do is wet down a T-shirt with cold water from the tub and wear it to bed. Cools me down just like going for a swim would.

Generally this world is too warm for Aspies, I think :D
NTs like to heat and keep sultry. And highlight.

Blanket must be, even ultrathin. I always hide under it. With head :D
For warmth is good to have ventilator, cover the windows and open them. Make draft and take cold shower. Eat water ice/sorbet - not cream.

Maybe you could take a cool shower before you go to bed and leave your hair wet. Then put a fan in your room - maybe that could help, but those are just temporary fixes. According to Chinese medicine, your internal heat might be too high. To help deal with the heat, you need to make sure you're eating foods that cool you down on the inside, as well. Lots of leafy greens and green tea or jasmine (rather than black or oolong). Also, something that really works, but is very bitter is aloe juice. You can get it in health food stores and drink it throughout the day. You only need a few tablespoons per day and you can dilute it in water, juice or tea. It literally cools the body - for example, if you had it in winter you might get too cold. It also clears the skin and helps regulate digestion (which humid weather can slow down). I used to have skin problems and aloe juice really got rid of them - plus I had hot flashes and they're gone, too. It also helps prevent fine lines in the face because it increases the body's moisture levels. Other foods that are good at cooling are broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, and cucumber. Also, avoid eating too many heating spices such as pepper, cinnamon, cayenne, etc. If you decide to try doing these things, take it easy, if you're used to eating heavy, hot foods and do too many changes at once, it might come on kind of strong (increase in potty visits). This stuff might not help you much tonight, but maybe you can have it in mind as you eat tomorrow. Hope you get some rest!

Icepacks on the inside of the wrists to cool arterial blood.....

or

A wet washcloth around the neck with a couple of drops of peppermint oil on the washcloth.......

If you are in Oz, I hear you........disgusting and humid.

Take care,

Mics

This happens to me a lot. Damn country I live in.
I sleep in really short shorts and a shirt/singlet. I have the fan on but turn it off when I know I'm about the nod off and I sleep under a single sheet. Sometimes I have cold water on the desk beside me.
If it's really really hot I go outside and do some telescope viewing, It's always cold out there, so when I come back inside the heat is welcome.

Take a cold (I mean REALLY cold) shower right before you go to sleep. Works for me in the summer.

I have this problem all the time, regardless of season. It was 25 degrees F here the other night, and I had the window open (I have roommates, and they wouldn't like if I put the thermostat to 50 degrees F).

I do sleep with a fan every night (white noise helps me deal with the fact I need absolute silence to sleep).

Used to be like that really bad where I used to live. We were really poor and there was no air/breeze at all. About the ONLY thing I could do to attempt to cool myself off was to get washcloths or hand towels, and wet them down-freeze them for about an hour and then put them on my neck when I was going to sleep. It helped quite a bit, but always sucked when they thawed out and warmed up, because I'd have to start all over again.

I need the temp to be < 68 ,otherwise I'm very uncomfortable and don't sleep well. If I can't get the temp down, then stripping down helps, but I need to be wrapped up, so use a lighter blanket. Finding the lowest point in the house, as someone mentioned, helps too. I've used fans before too.

It's strange cause during the day, I love the heat and really dislike the cold! Alaskan winter nights and SoCal summer days would be utopia for me :)
