I find I am am able to, in general, not talk to myself when other people are around. I find time in the day (walks in the dark, time by myself "reading" in a private room, etc.) to talk to myself. Instead, I will sing to myself when in public. I've read a few books since diagnosis six months ago and have not come across anything about this. Just curious if anyone else sings to themselves in lieu of talking.

I do both. I can sing some pretty nasty songs about people and society, to myself.

When I was a child, I would sing to myself constantly. I got in trouble with my third grade teacher for sitting in the back, singing to myself while in math class. My mom tells me that I sang to myself not just then, but also in my sleep, when I woke up, walking to school, when eating at the dinner table, etc. I would talk to myself, too, but that faded a bit as I got older and a bit more incorporated into the rest of the world.

I still walk down the street and talk to myself, sometimes... just to get ideas I have in my head out there to myself. :)

I talk to myself, though only when others are not around. I'll sing as well occasionally, though I prefer humming.

Sing, talk, carry on silly skits in multiple voices, argue politics and religion with invisible opponents, rehearse conversations that haven't taken place yet...

glad I am not the only one, fiddlerpianist! my folks said I sang jingles and Perry Como and Patsy Cline songs in my cradle. I remember I thought that I was the only one in the world that could understand lyrics of songs and felt compulsed to sing the lyrics as loud as I could so everyone could enjoy them.

I used to sing my favourite songs on my way to school and back.
Never anything of my own making, though.

I typically have to pre formulate anything I intend to say. The pre formulation typically involves talking to my self.

I often sing and make noises in my apartment. And quite often I catch my neighbors listening in the hall way of my apartment building… apparently I’m quite entertaining… LOL

I sing but not around people. I do it because I always have a song inside my head, like right now. In fact I think the same song has been in my head for three days.

I like to sing to the cats. They enjoy it, too. If you think about the kinds of noises cats make it will tip you off about the quality of my singing voice. I also tend to just hum to my self randomly- sometimes just a single tone, softly. I imagine that would drive people crazy if I did it in front of them.

Don't you love a good earworm, though? I, too, always have a song stuck in my head, but sometimes I forget it's there. It's always playing, though.

'The angel of music sings songs in my head': Quote from Phantom of the opera...

Yep, he definately sings in mine!! ! I'm one of those really annoying people on a train/bus who has their MP3 player on, albeit quitely, then starts bursting into song... trouble is that when you have a constant soundtrack in your head, it can do the same!

I often sing or talk to myself but in a 'foreign language' or basically, well spoken gibberish! It's weird because I know what I am singing but no one else understands it!
