This a very interesting discussion. What is a troll exactly? The last time I was on this site (several months ago), I was accused of being a troll because I asked for some advice and then didn't stay on line during the next couple of hours to field questions. It upset me so much I just went away.

I troll for laughs, troll other trolls at every opportunity, and do it because I'm amused at the reactions I get.

I don't do it because I'm an aspie, nor do I "blame" it on that, it's that kind of dumbassery that makes everyone jump into "OH NO ITS A DEVIANTART UNIQUE BUTTERFLY WANNABE-ASPIE" mode.

they also spammed my DA journal with their nastiness. I never meant to by a troll or attention whore. I have no clue what I did to piss those people off.

Maybe it's because you are different from them :? I've been bullied on some forums as well because I don't bite my tongue & I do NOT condone ganging up on the underdog. 1ce I mentioned that I had AS; they stared accusing me of having a self-righteous attitude because of it. They could be rite because I believe that people should be individuals & NOT forced to conform

I have seen a few unpleasant arguments involving Richard Stallman or Linus Torvalds that end with the claim the "he is just an a***hole because of his (undiagnosed) autism". This is abusive to Stallman and Torvalds (that their differing opinion is discounted as contrariness) and autism (which they might be, and I would like to see a justification of how it affected the argument).

i like trolls because they stir up an otherwise stagnant pot of quiescence.
the most interesting threads i read are the threads where a troll elicits the most extreme reactions from people.

it is very funny to watch otherwise formally stiff people lose their cool and go feral at a troll.

trolls do not last long and that is why i make sure i say things that are acceptable. but it is great to see someone who does not care whether they are banned or not light everyone's fuses.

i would like to see a troll make the queen of england go beserk and lose her cool.

i do not like it when a troll is admired however, they have their place and it is simply to blast a shot of affrontery through an otherwise dusty and cobwebbed place of stagnant conviviality

For me if the troll is using, ADD, ADHD, autism, or whatever as a means to get away with things they do that's just sad. As someone who has ADD (though I do question it it was really all the ADD and not also aspergers) I have a more open mind to people with autism, ADHD or what ever else it is that they have. They never asked for it.

Also for me yeah I have Dyslexia, and ADD and may ber well have aspergers I don't and never like to play the feel sorry for me card. I don't want people to feel sorry for me. What I want is for people to stop trying to make me just like them. I'm sick of it. For the first time in my life I at long last see who I am and I just want to people to accpect that. I don't need them to feel sorry for me I just want them to understand that's it make me who I am and if they can't handle that it's there problem not main.

I'm sick of having to put on the so called mask ever damn day and act just like all the other NT's in the world. It really wears me out ever day.

They're trolls, saying outrageous things is pretty much what they do.

Remember: when you start caring about what trolls say, they've won.

Then there are those that are 'concern trolls'

In an argument (usually a political debate), a concern troll is someone who is on one side of the discussion, but pretends to be a supporter of the other side with "concerns". The idea behind this is that your opponents will take your arguments more seriously if they think you're an ally. Concern trolls who use fake identities are sometimes known as sockpuppets. The OP Joined: Apr 24, 2010 and has 55 Posts: just sayin'. . .

A person who lurks, then posts, on a site or blog, expressing concern for policies, comments, attitudes of others on the site. It is viewed as insincere, manipulative, condescending.
A concern troll commented, "All these people are giving our side a bad name" and Another concern troll wrote, "This debate makes our side look disorganized."

being a jerk on purpose means you've lost, in my opinion.

i can't help hating it, although i can surely refrain from indulging them.

When a neurotypical is a troll, people blame it on his being a jerk.

When an autistic person is a troll, people blame it on his being autistic.

Double standard much?
