I laughed at the movie today in a moment when the rest of the theater was silent.

"how do i get out of here?"

"YOU CAN'T!"

*enthusiastic laughter burst*
*notice surrounding silence half second later*
*suppress*

and often found myself silent when the entire group would burst out in unison.

I can relate to this. It's one of the various reasons I don't like cinemas.

To the OP: It's not unusual to be mis -diagnosed with schizophrenia and/or ADHD.

I was watching a documentary where a woman was given a diagnosis of schizophrenia and put on medication.

One of the pediatrician's questions to her was "Do you hear people talking to you?" Thinking literally, she answered yes  She later was properly diagnosed with AS because she and her family sought another opinion.

So, you know, if you feel you should get another opinion.....maybe go with your feelings.

IDK. It depends on whose telling you this. I laugh at horror movies sometimes because they seem ridiculous to me and my grandma thinks this is WEIRD. lol....to me it's really not that weird, I have kind of a dark sense of humor but what we wee watching was just ri-dic.

If you laugh at other people's misfortune, not slapstick, REAL misfortune, I might be concerned. If you just laugh at things that most people don't think are funny but you aren't being perverse I wouldn't worry.

A year ago I was sitting in a room with about 4 others in it having lunch. Everything was quiet, then I just thought about something that happened the night before and burst into laughter. Everyone was wondering what was so funny.

I also laugh at other people's misfortune. When watching the news the other day, they said that a man lured a little girl from the playground with candy into his white van. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Does that make me a bad person?

I do this as well -- a lot of the tiem when something innapropriate is going on around me or when there's silence. I don't usually realize I've done anything until someone points it out. I always have trouble explaining why I laughed, and for a long time didn't know why others couldn't understand my laughing for a thought which was in no way related to the situation going on around me.

I do this every day..I am very easily amused and find humor in everything. I've been told it's a defense mechanism but I dunno, I just really find things funny. I laugh at inappropriate times such as funerals or once i laughed at a deaf lady in a movie...and it's NOT because I'm being a dick..I don't mean it in an insulting way AT ALL..but people get really mad at me. Why would I even laugh at someone in a mean way with a disability?? I HAVE a disability, I would never make fun of someone else for having one. I don't know why I laugh at these things but it's not out of meanness at all.

I've tried to quit laughing so much but it's hard to do..anyways I heard that laughing adds years to your life. In that case, I'm going to live to be 900! lol

Yes, I do find myself laughing at weird things. Usually just one word or something that sounded funny, if I'm on the internet, I could read an article or post, and one word or phrase makes me laugh out loud just because of how it sounds. I am easily amused.

I did find in the past that I could laugh and giggle at some quite inappropriate things or even at things that I could find to be distasteful or even what most people would find upsetting and I have found it to be quite involuntary at times too for example I did get into trouble in school a few times for laughing at things that were not "funny" as such but it wasn't too serious though - also is it true that us Aspies can laugh in a different way to NTs I have at least 2 different types of laugh - one which is like a silent giggle which I find difficult to control and another which is a more typical laugh which I have more control over - but sometimes I do still have a tendacy to laugh spontanously irrespective of what is being disscussed in a conversation is this more common among Aspies as we have difficulty in understanding social cues and therefore choosing the appropiate moment to laugh?

I was watching the Stoning of Soraya M with my family and started laughing when her father had such terrible aim with the stones that he missed her every time. The movie built up the stoning so much and it was so anti-climatic that it was really funny, but my family did not appreciate it at all. Funny moment in an otherwise depressing and sad movie.

I laugh at people throwing tantrums. I know this might infuriate them more but it just seems so funny to me. Sometimes I want to grab my camera and take pictures of people being upset or fussy. I feel if only they see what they look like when they're cranky they'd think it's funny, too.

Of course this only works if there's no real tragedy. I'd never laugh if people lost a leg or a family member or something. But if they get into a fit because of a misplaced key, misunderstanding with a boyfriend, can't put something together, got scolded by their boss...etc. then that's kinda funny.

I'm as guilty as any, though i've managed over the years to quiet the laugh, almost make in an in-breath laugh, so it can sound like a grunt, which helps keep people from being offended. What I find funny that others dont is essentially stupidity. having to state the obvious, failing to see or accept the obvious. Maybe there are times when what is obvious to me is not obvious to others... but if this is the cae then they're laughable too for not seeing it.

Me and my friend at college laugh at really weird things at times, even if they weren't so funny.
We was doing the filming and all I kept doing was literally laughing in a middle of a unfunny speech, and this was also today.
But yea, there was a camera and I was nervous, so I'm most likely to laugh for practically no reason.

I've done it a few times on this forum weirdly enough...

Recently I looked up and saw part of a building that looked like a face. I think the windows might have been eyes and some architechture was a funny scouling mouth. I laughed in the street, while looking up, then a stranger looked up too. Hehe.
