Yes, I do this too. I much prefer texting and email because I can go back and edit if I need to before I send it. With actual live talking, you've only got one shot to not sound like an idiot, so I tend to plan it out. I also go back over old conversations in my head, and sometimes even out loud when noone is around. (I've never tried to get diagnosed myself, but I have an aspie dd who is a lot like I was as a kid.)

I do it too, and so does my 16 year old. I'm aspergers and he's autistic.

Unfortunately, I do it when I'm trying to sleep. I end up having to wake up and take one of my herbals called Calms Forte to get my brain to stop thinking at 2am.

Yes, but I rarely follow through.

I do this almost always. I didn't realize this was off until I mentioned that I did this to an NT.

When it's something really important I do find myself speaking out-loud my segment of the conversation -- which I do in inconvenient places sometimes...

Yes, I do it as well. It helps me some when the real conversations happen.

I does work sometimes, I think there would be a lot more freezing before giving a response if it didn't happen, leading to an awkward tempo in conversation.

I do this. It helps when I'm talking to someone.

Definite yes. If I know I am going to have to have a conversation with someone I try to plan out exactly what I am going to say, although usually I can only come up with a first sentence and maybe a general outline (the rest is contingent :) ). I also invent very long monologues, clearly conversational in nature, sometimes with an imagined audience but usually without.

I need to practise my conversations, otherwise my thoughts come out disorganised and I don't express what I intend to express. If something goes "off-script," I can usually go with the flow or rely on other scripts, but it's good for me to have that in the background so I'm not having to process everything while maintaining a conversation.

I've always done this. Just can't be helped to stop it. There are a few times that whatever I have had planned in my head ends up getting done.

I would call this first a curse and secondly a blessing. It's a curse because it plagues your brain all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's a blessing because having your brain work that way , just MAYBE I would be able to join/start a conversation with someone and stick with it for longer than five minutes, and especially longer if they haven't noticed my quirkness and that I am comfortable enough to continue the conversation.

All the time.

I do it with forum replies and topics too. I imagine the scenario, create the replies and then evaluate whether it's actually important or not to want to bother. I usually never post for this reason.

Yeah, exactly why I have low post count for being a member of this forum for almost a year now!
