I don't think he's angry, just insulted that he was accused of selling out.

An organization is not going to change if someone doesn't do something to change it. Maybe if Alex works with them as a bridge to the voice of YOU then they may get a new perspective and understanding that may someday change their direction.

Cut him a break, he's doing good work. I'm not a fan of them either, but by them having one autistic person on their staff, wherever that may be, and supporting Alex's work is a step in the right direction. Small, but it's a step. Take it.

^This. I think Alex should not be ashamed that he's speaking up and give them an inside look at how we live from our point of view. Then they should be able to discover how we truly feel about ourselves.

I really hope that this means that Autism Speaks is willing to change, and that Alex can have a good influence on them. I'd like to try and give them the benefit of the doubt.
However, I fear that actually Autism Speaks will NOT change, and that they will just use Alex as a kind of 'credibility' so they can carry on doing the same, or even that they will start laying down conditions on him so he has to change the way he works.

Whilst it's not the decision I would have made, I have to say that what I've seen of Alex (through his posts and his videos) makes me feel that he is a good guy, and that he wouldn't have done it for bad reasons. It's not him I'm doubting, but them.

Now I understand why Alex got rid of me as an administrator. It wouldn't look right for Autism Speaks' new acquisition to have an outspoken critic of them (and their "hidden" UK version: Autistica) in such a position.

I hope Alex enjoys his new job with Autism Speaks.

I think Autism Speaks probably has a bit of an agenda. I think they may be trying to manipulate Alex in an attempt to win some of the members of this community over.

They know that Alex probably won't be outspoken against then when he's receiving $. Would there have been two episodes in a row casting their organization in a positive light had they not taken up sponsorship? I don't think so, but I don't know the details either.

I'm not saying Alex is in Autism Speaks' pocket. I just think that's what they may be trying to do.

Try to judge this video based on the content of the show, and i think you'll be pleased.

how do you expect an organization like that to change if no one tries to change the way they operate?

Exactly!

Now I want people to shut up and stop over reacting and acting like a bunch of little whiny b*****s.

There's no need to get rude. People should be allowed to air their views, even if it's not a view that you hold yourself.
Given the huge amount of negative feelings towards Autism Speaks among the autistic community, it's hardly surprising that people would have doubts or fears about Alex aligning himself with them.
