That's funny as I only qualified in the category of specialized interest and that was only when I was very young. I've always been into rough sports (basketball, football, wrestling, boxing, baseball, not low stress sports such as cross country, etc) After reading several comments, I spoke with my mom and she mentioned that I never had trouble with eye contact or social skills save for some naivete and dislike of confrontation. However, if the shrink evaluates my old records and decides it was a misdiagnosis as my family believes, am I correct in saying that I won't have any need to mention it to my BI when I apply for law enforcement? After all, I've never been on meds or in special ed.

[quote="Cowboysfan"]Also, I heard aspies can't develop musclular tone[quote]

Simply untrue, though aspies are less likely to develop muscle tone unless they're interested in doing so, or discipline themselves to do so.

I'm more inclined towards trusting your suspicions than many here. It doesn't sound like you are trying to drop a label or pretend to be something you are not. If you have reason to suspect that your symptoms were environmental, and led to a misdiagnosis, then you should definitely look for a second opinion.

I would, however, suggest that you spend some time thinking about whether you might just have found a set of circumstances that are masking an underlying condition. It isn't impossible that your interest in sports and your physical size has negated many of the problems that you might otherwise have face. You're part of a sports team, which is a learnable social environment, provides a great outlet for slow-burning emotional problems and will give you self-confidence from a sense of belonging.

Hope you find the answers you're looking for.
