My brother is an Aspie and my dad has something related to it.

Not many people with aspie have younger brothers or sisters without aspies.

My grandfather and my mother are both likely candidates.

All the other kids in my family were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, which according to some research is related. One of my cousins I suspect of being somewhere on the spectrum. I think he's more PDD-NOS than just ADD.

My grandfather had a lot of aspie traits. I, of course, didn't know him until he was in his 50's, and now he's dead, so I could never say for sure he had Asperger's.

I think both my parents are somewhere on the spectrum though my mother eventually killed herself because of it so cant get her checked and my father.. well I dont think he would be interested in a diagnosis if he didnt go into active denial about it.

My sister on the other hand is NT Im fairly certain (but a little.. weird.. considering the environment she grew up in thats understandable).

The rest of my family I dont know well enough to tell though judging by how we're considered the "weird" branch of the family and avoided as much as possible they're probably mostly NT.

My Grandfather on my Mother's side was very reserved and liked routine - for example all he would ever ask for at Christmas or for his birthday was Bourneville chocolate or engine oil for his car. If things got too stressful he'd go and hide in his shed. :) Sadly he couldn't face the onset of old age and he killed himself by taking an overdose.

My cousin (Mum's side) is bi-polar and a borderline schizophrenic. However that may be more to do with his Father's genes which are unrelated to mine.

My Dad is almost certainly an Aspie although he doesn't know it. After years of difficulty he is now retired and has a lovely partner and a quiet house out in the countryside, and two cats, so he is happy. That gives me hope.

I have a 50-year-old uncle who's never been married (he's probably not an Aspie though), but other than that no one in my family has any traits associated with Aspies.

My mother describes my father as an eccentric, intelligent computer scientist. She says I take after him. I wouldn't be surprised if he had Asperger's, but he died long before it became an official diagnosis.

Other members of my family have a few AS traits; my mother has special interests and talks loudly without knowing it; and my little sister is hyperlexic and probably has a very high IQ. The middle of my two sisters is thoroughly NT, as is the one biological grandparent I know well.

My entire immediate family are introverts.

I'm the most eccentric member of my family, though, and probably the only one diagnosable as AS. However, there are AS traits in about half of my family. I just got the right combination of genes, I suppose.

My NT brother has one of the traits, he has sensative smell. My Mom has some of the traits too llike Sensative hearing, obsessions (with gardening and redecorating houses) she doesn't read body language well either. She told me when I was 15.

My grandmother likely has it. My dad told me she does but was never diagnosed. She is lot like me in a way but now she has Alzheimers and is also senile, she is a lot different now.

My cousin Laura might have it because she and I are lot a like. Her mom probably has it too because I can remember my mother telling me her sister Sue might have had it.

I'm the only one with a DX but I do have relatives who are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. My Dad has ADHD but was never officially DXed, my shrink disocovered he had it when I was little just by watching how he was axting everytime she saw him. She watch his behavior everytime he was telling her about me and what's been going on.

I'm sure my Father is either HFA or Aspie - his symptoms run worse than mine aside from him being seizure-free but he can't be convinced to see any kind of doctor for any type of illness so there's never going to be a diagnosis. My Mother may have been an Aspie. She was socially awkward and didn't make eye contact. She seemed to feel her best caring for pre-speech children and animals. People always figured she was a little ret*d but she was absolutely brilliant. My Brother has OCD with multiple expressions and an extreme need for order. Like me, he bites his nails to the blood and stims in other ways. He had his first serious relationship and married at 39. I can't honestly say my Sister is NT because she seems to have no conscience which would classify her as some kind of sociopath, I guess. Again, no diagnosis because she wouldn't bother seeing a professional for something she doesn't see as a problem. My other Brothers died so I don't know about them. Then again, maybe my parents were NT but just went nuts when they lost two children.

Oh, sorry. Expound on that?

My father had AS, undxed. His brother is fairly Aspergery. My mother's father seemed to be pretty Aspergery, himself, too, and the same for her grandfather on her mother's side. Her mother was just insane (lol, not the official dx but more accurate than her actual dx of TLE implies).

Those are the ones I know of. My mom's a bit weird, too, but is far enough away from the Spectrum to not be considered "Aspergery".

I think my Aunt might have it. She's always making digs at people, without realizing it.

I have a brother diagnosed with Autism/mental retardation, another brother diagnosed with AS, I'm not diagnosed with AS yet, but dr.'s strongly feel I have it, and the other 3 kids in the family all show characteristics of AS, but haven't had any formal testing or anything. I have a nephew with ADHD as well. My mom and dad both show signs of AS and I don't know about anyone else in the family.

We think my dad has aspergers, but we're not sure. We think my grandma and my aunt are probably bipolar. And two of my aunt's kids have ADHD and one is extremely overly sensitive.
