How would one distinguish "mild" from "moderate" Aspie? I have no friends and talking to women on a romantic level is for me like surfing is for a paraplegic ostrich, but I can suck up my fear and put on an act and seem more or less normal in superficial interactions. So which is the indicator of my "level"? That my instincts and emotions are so cataclysmically FUBAR, or that I can pretend to be normal for short periods of time at enormous cost in emotional energy? Perhaps I'd be "mild" if my natural state were the one I have to work so hard to cultivate, and only found difficulty under infrequent conditions, but difficulty is the default.
