As a part of the diagnostic process, I had to go through my old school reports. One of them in particular makes me laugh every time I read it. I reads as follows:

For much of the time Dappadee gives the impression of being uninterested, badly organised and badly behaved. The exam, however, shows that he has a sound general knowledge and genuine ability in this subject.

He is an enigma to me.

This was, ironically, for social sciences, in which I was graded in the top percentile for that exam. I can also say, hand on heart, that I have absolutely no interest in it either. People and society at large, are generally weird and boring to me.

Do any of you have a school report that - now you understand what was going on - makes you laugh?

Back in third grade when my special intrest was mantees, we were to write a report on our favorite animal. All the other kids complained but I was thrilled. The teacher threatned one kid with two reports if he didn't suck it up and write the assigned first report. I considered acting up so I would have to write two. I didn't know you were supposed to use "your own words" when writing a report so I copied it word for word from the classroom encylopedia. I have dysgraphia but I wrote this via hand as neatly as possible anyway. I even used the poster board from my science project and made a little presentation about manatees and brought my plush manatees to school so the kids could hold them while they listined to my report. Everyone, even my bully teacher was impressed. Unfortunatly I was sick the day I was orginaly supposed to give my report and had to stay home from school...it was the only day I actually wanted to go to school. This had to be my favorite report of all time.

A long time ago, I remember one that gave us something to laugh about; we thought my teacher had written that my work was 'erotic'... turned out it was just 'erratic' written in a highly illegible scrawl.

My school reports were mostly computerized so it was basically just phrases they clicked on and when comparing them to others it would seem the people with the same grades in classes got the same comments -- all of them vague such as "great participation" when I didn't even talk. What do you know.

I know for certain my early reports wouldn't have been on the computer but I don't think I still own them.

Not mine, but my wifes :

"Does not play with others, and when forced to do so cries"

How is that for understanding?

"Notwithstanding his complete detachment from class, Stuart is likely to do well in the examinations - not despite his teachers, but in order to spite them."

We hadn't as personalised reports as many of you, but there were answers too choose. I was wonderkid, best student etc, so my teacher chose all the best answers. Even these: good social skills, good leader, nice, calm, plays with other children - nobody liked me, nobody wanted to play with me, every day I offended someone and I had many meltdowns. But I was the youngest, I had only As (grades, not AS) and I was "school pride", so you know...

I was similar to Valoyossa, I was always the well-behaved kid that teachers liked, so they put down good responses about me other than work ethic. Funniest thing on a report card would have to be Kindergarten.

"Coldkick enjoys being on the computer so much that I have to limit his time so others can have some time learning about the technology."

My school reports were always some variation of "pleasure to have in class". Throughout my entire time in school, the teachers adored me. It was my fellow students that made my life miserable.

Oh boy... where do I start... Lets pick second grade - a bad year where there is much documentation.

Field Trips...

Quote:
Oct 12 - 16, 1987

Dear Parents,

Scott's week passed with out much incidence. School Forest and the Ice Age Trail were the exception. It was difficult for Scott to just sit still and listen or stay with the group

Lunch time was never a good time for me

Quote:
November 30 - Dec 4, 1987

Dec. 3 - Scott had a terrible Monday and Tuesday. He had to eat at the principals office at noon Tuesday. From what I hear his noon hour behavior is always bad. Scott is pulling some of the same things he did at the beginning of the year. He may be asked to eat elsewhere at noon

Here's a note describing a meltdown I had

Quote:
3-11-88

The whole week went fairly well for Scott, but as usual, one day spoiled his record. That day was Tuesday. That afternoon he had an episode in gym. Scott lost control, he cried, turned red faced and stood holding himself as if he had to go to the bathroom. He was sent out of gym. As I said to begin with, the rest of the week went well.

This incident I remember, one thing my teacher left out was that I was screaming bloody murder out in the hallway

Quote:
Week of march 14 - 18, 1988

Scott did not have a good tuesday because of his behavior. He was bound and determined that he was not going to go out for recess in the morning. He wasted all his time putting on his boots, zipping up his jacket, etc. He had to be escorted to the playground where he was outside for approximately a minute and a half. When he came in he announced that he was not going out for recess at noon, he was taken to Mrs. Johnsrud's room to cool off and discuss his behavior. Mr Huebee also talked to him. The rest of the day went well and he did go out for the noon hour. He has lot's of stories to tell about why he acted the way he did.

Note the subtle sarcasm at the end of this note

Quote:
Week of Jan 4 - 8, 1988

Tuesday - Scott was running around in the room during the noon hour. He would not accept the punishment the noon lady gave him. He started his turning red and shaking routine and he had to be put somewhere else to cool down.

Thursday - Scott was constantly reminded to stop chattering, he was sent to the cloak room until he was ready to listen.

Firday - Scott needed to spend time in the cloak room this morning due to silliness

Otherwise, everything else is fine

I've gone through all my report cards and what not - I can't find a single positive thing my teachers said about me other than the standard generic things.
