It's how we'll get to Heaven. Conversions come with 1 free jetpack to be used when kingdom come.

If you find your jetpack malfuctioning, prepare for a long fall.

Pfft, yeah like I would wait for that day to use my jetpack. I would use it on the first day. Mainly I would use it to fight Nazi's on top of a zeppelin. Or maybe to find love. Yes, I will use my jetpack to either fight Nazi's or find love.

I know, right? Apparantly listening to the scientific community with its painstaking research and its conclusion based on facts instead of a much-translated book written by humans thousands of years ago is "evil". Silly me, and here I thought evil had more to do with killing people, torturing them, other things which cause actual pain to actual people. No, now I see the error of my ways. The true root of all evil is logic!

See, this is why I can't be having with organised religeon. It has more to do with trapping people into social norms and preventing them from ever questioning anything than it has to do with morality of any sort. You can be both religeous and a good person, but being religeous does not make you a good person.

I do believe in a higher power, a cosmic creator, but one that cares what humans sleep with what other humans, or what they eat, or whether they work on a Sunday? Pfft. Such an entity would be too vast to comprehend such concerns. Our human dramas are too petty for a being which can create stars.

Atheist here.

I was raised and professed to be Christian from I was about 5 years old until I gradually started "losing faith", eventually becoming an atheist a few years ago. I only just told my parents last month and they were surprisingly ok about it.

The whole thing seems to be about control, and breeds an "us vs them" mentality, which makes Christians dislike anyone different from them. I.e. People from other religions (because theirs is the one true religion after all), gay people, etc. Plus the anti-science stance taken by some Christians is really annoying.

I'm Christian. And how is that more hardcore than Jesus being whipped (and check out WHAT they used to whip w/ back then), giant thorns dug in his head, hung on a cross from nails where the only way to breathe was to pull himself up making the nails only rip further into his flesh, plus have the weight of every man's sins, from the past, present, and future, upon him?

Deeply, resolutely, and eternally an atheist.
Very vocal about it too. Can't be nice about religion/god nonsense.

One of my biggest pet-peeves about living in the US (for now) would be its overwhelming religiosity.
I'd rather be living in Sweden, Norway, or Iceland where more than half the populations identify as atheist.

So, what I'm saying is: many people claim to be something, but it seems they don't know or don't care to know very much about their chosen religion. That is my problem: if you're going to have a faith, KNOW ABOUT IT!

Indeed!

According to this recent survey - Recent Pew Poll on Religious Knowledge - atheists and agnostics know more about religion than any religious group.

Yes, which is often why I wonder about many people's true faiths when they don't even know what they believe in--and oftentimes it turns out it was more a followed path due to their parents and later they either fall away b/c they never had any roots in it to begin with or they actually pursue KNOWING about their religion and make a choice about it.

Atheist. The whole god and jesus thing never made sense. Plus, the god of the christian bible is kind of a terrible person or god. Not interested in such things.

For gods, I would have to go with Odin, not only did he pluck out his own eye for knowledge, he also hung himself from a tree and stabbed himself with a magic spear to learn about suffering. Way more hardcore than jesus.

I'm pretty sure Jesus as represented in the bible, suffered more than any and every other person/god/diety combined.... perhaps not the devil, since he lives in hell...

i disagree; this is a really old fashioned view of AS.

Well, according to this Wrong Planet poll - Religion (or lack thereof) and Autism/Asperger's? - two out of three (two thirds or ~66%) of aspies are atheist or agnostic. That compares to something like 10 to 20% of the population at large (here in the US - the percentage of atheists/agnostics is much higher in every other advanced country in Europe, Asia, etc.)

ThomasL what you said about thinking middle eastern religions, while it was your opinion. please do not try and repel anyone of these faiths (even if they are a little crazy) it would be great to get opinions on spirituality from aspies of other faiths.

Christianity is a Middle Eastern religion, and many Christians have already responded, yourself included. Believe me, I'm not trying to repel anyone - I like to hear different opinions.

and misslottie i am so sorry to hear that your depression has turned you away from christ. i would recommend that you call out to jesus, he will answer your calls FOR SURE!! !!

Ahem - he never answered any of MY many, sincere "calls". That's one of the reasons I began to question my faith - I never got any indication or feeling whatsoever that "god" or "Jesus" was hearing my prayers, let alone answering them.

and to those evilutionists how can you say god does not exist?

How can you say Shiva does not exist? Or Odin? Or the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis? Or the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami?

you cannot deny that he will judge you as an aspie on the day of judgement whether the scriptures are accurate or not does not matter, you have refutted the bible BUT NOT JESUS!! !! please respond!! !!

Are you saying that Aspies are evil?

Many, many others suffered the same fate back then. Nothing special. Sorry. For that matter, thousands of people around the world RIGHT NOW are suffering equally horrific fates at the hands of authorities. Nobody gives a damn.

Incidentally, if Jesus had been executed in the electric chair, would the electric chair be the symbol of Christianity? Would Christians wear little gold electric chairs on their necklaces as a badge of their moral superiority?
