Toe walking - sometimes associated with CP.

Apparently toe walking can be fairly regular for some - also, only occasional/every once in a while for some. - http://www.associatedconditionsofcerebralpalsy.com/ -

I walked on my toes a lot, as a kid.

I often toe walk... though I'm not sure you can call it that as I'm not really on my toes just the front part of my feet. That actually got my calf muscles very nicely toned and strong and because of that I can jump very high. So I've considered it a good thing and anyone that has a problem with it be damned.

Yep. I walk on the balls of my feet.
More apparent in bare feet.
Especially on uncarpeted floors.
Is it balance? A bit..
Do I hate the thumping noise of heels on floor? Yes, this is part of it - my sister always thumped.
I also relate to the "light and springy" mentioned by someone else...

It also means that the heels of my shoes often drop and "shuffle" - which people have commented on (yeah I wear big shoes - my feet are too wide for their length).

I don't do it nearly as much as when I was a kid, but when I do it seems to be due the type of flooring. Cold "sticky" linoleum or hardwood against my bare feet feels awful. Carpet is usually ok.

A friend of mine in high school always walked on his toes. I thought it was pretty cool looking so I started trying it out

I might do it unconciously a little bit. Like a poster above said, I hate loud stomping and I try not to do it most of the time so probably my weight is directed more towards my toes

My cousin was a toe walker when he was little. It was very distinct and drew a good deal of attention.

I have always walked on my toes alot
Always when I'm at home I do it couse I like how it feels and I don't like how it sounds when you walk with your whole foot,
when I go outside I often wear high heels or if the weather is nice I go barefoot and then I walk on my toes too.
When I run I run on my toes also.

I walk on stairs with my toes, it just feels natural and doing it any other way makes me lose my balance. Also, while I flap my hands, I generally walk on my tip toes too.

I sort of have the same problem of toe walking since I was a child. My family tends to worry about it too.. Is it normal or common?

It tends to be common for Aspies. I don't see why it's a problem or anything to worry about though.

My brother does. One more reason to suspect that he's an undiagnosed Aspie...

I have no idea how long I have toe walked but I'm sure its been quite some time. I know its been at least 5 or 10 years I think. Its just the way I walk. It comfortable to me and I don't know if anyone else has noticed or not. I doubt it. For me I toe walk because that is how I can walk around almost completely silent all the time. I like being quiet! Always quiet like a ninja.

I know that I do it now but I can't really remember if I did it as a kid; probably did though. I usually walk that way when not wearing any shoes or socks. Nowadays, I feel like I walk weird. My best walking though is usually in heels, which makes a lot of sense.
