Anyone see the bullying segment on 20/20 last night?
Bring back paddling in the schools and the kids will stay in line. People like that don't listen to reason. Only punishment will keep them from doing the wrong things. That's a fact!
I don't really agree with the use of physical violence (even in the mildest sense) as a form of punishment/deterrence. Rather, I think the bullies ought to face not only EXPULSION (since mere suspension seems to be looked upon as nothing more than a vacation), but "blacklisting" AND criminal charges too.
Maybe if these bullies faced some time in a juvenile corrections facility with kids far tougher than themselves, they would learn to control their abusive behaviors. Maybe if their parents faced a stiff fine, they'd make sure their kids stayed in line.
Also.....the names of the bullies AND their parents should be published in local newspapers and other media outlets. Make no mistake about it, these bullies are ABUSERS and they ruin lives just like sex offenders do. Therefore, they deserve no more quarter than we offer to sex offenders in America. The embarrassment and social ostracism their parents would face because of this would help too. Maybe then millions of American parents would stop viewing the bullying problem as nothing more than "boys will be boys".
The parents are never innocent in this respect as far as i'm concerned. THEY decided to bring children into the world and this entails the ultimate sacrifice. They need to be held accountable for everything their children do until they reach legal adulthood. If they can't handle this responsibility, then they're unfit parents any way you slice it.
Let them get their GED just like many bullied kids have decided to do rather than endure a few more years in the torture chambers which are passing themselves off as schools.
Community college isn't the worst option for anybody after all. More and more people are opting for community college these days considering the bad economy and the outrageous costs of 4-year private and public colleges/universities.
I agree with all of this. Lock them up and throw away the key! People change their behaviors if negative consequences are applied to wrongful actions and positive consequences are applied to righteous actions. If someone has no conscience, the best way to deter him is a threat of punishment (not the cake walk known as suspension).
Well I tried to link.
I can't get over the fury and sadness Tyler Long's story makes me feel

You could tell he was a gentle kid who didn't have a malicious bone in his body. These sadistic little animals drove him to suicide all because he was a person with Asperger's and they couldn't handle the fact that he pointed out a few rules to them.
I'm sure these same bullies admire pop culture trash like Jay-Z, Tommy Lee and Ke$ha who constantly break rules and defy authority without actually changing ANYTHING for the better.
As a libertarian socialist/anarcho-communist....i'm all for breaking rules and defying authority when such actions are likely to bring about significant positive change in the society.
But breaking rules and defying authority just so you can get drunk/use drugs, have group sex, dress like a prostitute and make as much money as possible just proves that you're a self-absorbed,
hedonistic nihilist a**hat.
Such people have become the role models in American society and they are nothing more than a reflection of how unspeakably decadent, uncivilized, destructive and nihilistic Americans have become.
LOL I have said things in the past like "We aren't supposed to do that" "I thought that wasn't allowed?" and then in my apartment I asked my landlord why was this tenant on the first floor allowed a dog and if it's a service animal and she said he wasn't supposed to have one and I asked why did he have one and she said she didn't know about it. My husband told me I had tattled. Uh asking questions is tattling? I wonder if it's something people do by disguising something as a question when they tattle?
I never saw it as an aspie thing. But getting confused about the rules when they get broken, yes.
I would watch that but it would upset me greatly and I don't know if I can take that right now. I think the attention this suicide victims get has made the situation worse. The bullies themselves tell these kids to kill themselves on a regular basis and when it happens, their lives haven't changed much. They just move on to the next victim. It's the murder that they can get away with.
I remember when a kid from my school committed suicide and the vast majority of people didn't care. There was even a kid in my class who said, "Oh that freak I used to kick on the bus? Good riddance." My ex was one of the deceased's close friends so he didn't take that very well and I had to keep him from beating the kid up, although I probably should have let him beat the little brat up. :/
In short, there's nothing that can be done about it. Teachers, parents, administrators, other kids just don't care. They want all whom they deem "undesirable" to kill themselves. It'll make their school look better.
