Revenge is sweet.
My parents dragged me along to visit a friend in the town where I went to High School. I figured I would be bored out of my skull because, amoung other things, the town is boring as something very boring, unless your an idiot tourist who enjoys getting fleeced by people selling crap not worth the plastic its made of.
Now, one day my parents sent me down to the grocery store to grab some food, and who should I meet there, but one of my Middle/High school tormentors. Guess what he was doing? Bagging groceries. In the two years since I left, he has not changed jobs, and gained about a hundred pounds to.
So much for Mr. Football.
Who knows, maybe if I come back in ten years he'll have made his way to greeter at the local Fred Meyers.

Congratulations. Now you can have feeling of superiority and smugness when they have to address you with a respectful title. I'm too lazy to look at your profile.

These days are not like the agony in Chen,*
But often I suffer from bitter reproaches.
Then let me remember, to calm my distress,
That the sages of old suffered from the same melancholy.

Where Confucius nearly starved to death*

Tu Fu, Tang Dynasty, or Su Tung Po, Sung Dynasty; I can't remember and nobody gives a s**t because I've always had to work low status jobs to avoid cold, hunger, and the rain.

Maybe it was Tao Yuan Ming, I can't remember when he lived. I wish to f**k I could just be normal instead of growing old with nothing, but that's not an option.

Congress authorized a special army of a several thousand soldiers to chase down geronimo's band of thirty warriors and twice that many women, kids, and elders. They could never capture him, but he was talked into surrendering. He spent the last years of his life growing pumpkins and watermelons on a little patch of dirt in oklahoma. They didn't have supermarkets then, so he didn't bag groceries.

Looks can be a bit decieving...He may just have that junk job while he goes to college locally and prepares for a more worthwhile career, just to get some extra spending cash. With 3 good sized universities in this town, a lot of college aged people are still living with their parents and doing just that.

OTOH, I went to my 10 year reunion a few years ago, and noticed many of the popular muscle jocks and other popular ones had gained lots of weight just like your classmate did. Most of them ended up failing out of college becasue they partied too much, and they've got worthless jobs they don't enjoy just like that. Most of them were quite suprised that I had opened my own audiovisual company and was doing very good with it!
