I've just got word that I've been awarded funding to be tested for Aspergers ( yay!) . Originally I was going to be referred to the Maudsley Hospital in London and now I'm going to some place closer to home, in Woking. I haven't the foggiest idea what to expect, any adults who've been tested in the UK who could give me a general idea what the process is?

The not knowing is making me more than a little anxious.

You'll probably:
Be given an IQ test. (I found it was a lot easier and less scary than thought it would be)
Take some personality tests. (LONG test where you answer on a bubble-sheet-thingy. It tedious and they ask you, in every way possible, if you like fire)
Take a test or be verbally asked questions very similar to the ones on the Aspie quiz.
The doctor will want to know about your childhood and how you are functioning now. (They may ask to speak with a parent or sibling)
You'll probably have to see the doctor several times or for one really long single session.

My advice:
Make a list of the things about you that make you think you have AS.
Don't expect and answer at your first appointment.
Just be honest and be yourself.

Hope that helps.
Josh

Thanks for both of your replies.

All I was told about the process was that it may take a couple of weeks, at least I now know what I can expect, so thank you very much!
