Why do I still feel like I have Asperger's?

Hey, people. I was diagnosed with, not autism, but an emotional disorder. For some reason, though, I still think I have a mild form of Asperger's. I'm not sure why, though.

I mean, some of the findings were suggestive of something like Asperger's (VIQ in superior range, odd speech, odd vocabulary, introversion to the extreme), but they think that it's something else...(I also have obsessions that consist of Nintendo games that are so rare that nobody's heard of them, medical text, feminism, literature, and stuff like that.)

Why do I get the feeling that I was misdiagnosed (again)?

Possibly because you were ...

Is that terribly bothersome for you?

Was the person that DX'd you a specialist in autism? If not, it's quite possible they missed it.

Not sure, really. She was in charge of my IEP, I guess.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. I moved and I found out there is an autism expert working in the same building as my psychiatrist and I wish I could have seen him.

But I also know much of my weirdness could be explained by my psychosis problems, especially since they say I have schizophrenia.

How old are you? If the person was in charge of your IEP, was it a school professional? I was misdiagnosed as ED (emotionally disturbed) by my school district when I was in middle school, but that was before AS was recognized.

My school thought I was sexually abused.
With mother eagle lurking close by constantly? I think not.

Let's be fair - it's hard for therapists. They were trained by people who'd never heard of aspergers, and trained to diagnose people just like us as something completely different.

Most of them don't really believe in aspergers, I think. They imagine, some of them, that our disorders are created by the diagnosis.
