OP: there is intelligence and autism, and then there is focus. if your special interest is science and people hear you talk about it, since you have focused on it for years and know more about it than the average person, they will call you smart, even if you know nothing about other things "everyone"knows about.
But if your special interest is star treck and you can recite every line of every episode and know the date every episode has first aired, well they will call you spock, at best.

Not all people with Asperger's have to be extremely smart, nor do all autistics have some degree of mental retardation. A lot of Aspies have great focus, creativity, and epicness, I will tell you that! 0w0 -w-

ah, epicness yes, as the professor just said, i forgot this very important point. We have epicness and some degree of awesomeness, depending on the following equation: geekiness times epicness by smartness.
