Does anyone have trouble telling their right hand from their left hand. I think my wiring is screwed up. If I try to tell my hands apart my mind goes blank.

Lol. I have to use tricks to remember left/right. When I was taking driving lessons, I had to wear a ring on my left hand or something to be able to go in the direction my instructor told me. And sometimes I would still screw up and go the wrong way. I usually use the distinction that I write with my left hand, so , if, someone says, 'go right' I have to think to myself which hand I would pick up a pen with, and then go the opposite direction. It takes me a while (longer than most people anyway) to tell the difference when I need to and I've come to the conclusion it always will, so I don't worry about it.

Left hand makes an 'L'
'L' for left.
That's what they taught us in lower school, anyway.

Hahah! I memorised that L thing well into high school, secretly using it to help me guide my way, nowdays as I say Left the L itself just pops into my head.

Whenever I'm trying to decide which is left and which is right, I just make myself pretend to be writing something. I'm right-handed, so whichever hand looks like it's holding an imaginary pen is the right hand.

My left hand generally likes to be in one of two positions

1. Loose fist

2. Or if I'm sitting down, it will just come across me, as if in a sling.

So I can use that if I'm really stuck.

Altough, I will just extend one hand and go 'that way'.

I tend to get them backwards.. every time.

My husband has actually learned and when Im giving directions if I say left he'll turn right to keep us from getting lost :P

Strange thing is it happens with east/west north/south as well.

I can usually tell right from left, but sometimes spend a few minutes trying to remember. It's the same with clocks. It doesn't matter if they're digital or not. About half the time I have to stare at it for about thirty seconds before I can tell what time it is.

I used a scar on my left hand to tell left from right. I got the scare as a child when I got a nail into my left hand when I was throwing. To remember east and west I placed myself towards the north, and then left was west (in swedish left and west both start with a 'v').

Same here!

And as for telling left from right, well, if I'm really stuck, I quickly mentally prepare myself to sketch something - the hand that twitches will be on my left side!
