I worked retail in a mall two holiday seasons and I wouldnt mind if I never heard another Christmas song again. Ever. I remember hearing the same songs 3 or 4 times per shift.

Now when I hear Christmas music I have flashbacks of being tortured in a Vietnamese prison.

Christmas music is ANNOYING! I probably liked hearing it when I was a toddler, as it meant Santa Claus was nearing. But after about the 297,548,398,092th playing of Jingle Bells, it's just as bad as an incessant construction noise.

You reminded me I haven't heard any carol or Christmas song this year! Unbelievable!
Carols sung by choir can be really pretty. Songs like Last Christmas... bleeee, I'm fed up.

I made a web counter for Jingle Bells but it kept overflowing the INT datatype and eventually crashed the server ...

i collect odd xmas recordings. i like to play 'em throughout the year and not just in december. right now i have the stereophonic edition of phil spector's xmas album in mostly constant play. when that is not playing then i listen to various spike jones xmas novelties. when i'm not listening to that then i have more traditional stuff on, like the harry simeone chorale's "little drummer boy" and such. a swedish outfit called "oskars motettkor" did a neat and very holy recording of xmas music [sung in latin, french and swedish] a few decades back ["cantate domino" - 1976], that i find to be sublime. xmas music makes me feel ok. it is a balm for my spirit.

I don't like a lot of it because it's all 'perfect Christmas' and stuff (sorry, I'm still half asleep so my grammar sucks...). The song 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas' makes me want to kill someone because outside... SNOW EVERYWHERE. I'm stuck in my house and I've got to risk my life travelling to my mum's in a few days... >:( Then there's those songs which are talking about Christmas like it's perfect... 'Chestnuts roasting on an open fire' etc... Firstly, my mum lives in a rental box house... no fire place... secondly, who ACTUALLY spends time together at Christmas and enjoys it!? Most people I know end up half slaughtering each other by boxing day!

The only song I like:

Unless it's "Carol Bells" or something by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I hate it.

Reason #273 to own and carry an iPod. Whenever I'm in a store I can drown out the sappy Christmas music with something by the Black Mages or Shoji Meguro. Nothing like some vg battle music when you're doing some eleventh-hour Christmas shopping.

*walks off humming the synth line to J-E-N-O-V-A from FFVII*

Christmas music is annoying, very annoying. It is often really bad much worse than normally bad music, except for that one Pogues song that one I enjoy.

I get irritable, but Christmas stopped being joyous for me long ago. Add to that the over-hype of the holiday and I get fairly nasty.

I don't enjoy it. I realized today, while in a waiting room where Christmas was playing, that it was a positively torturous sound track for me.

It's easy to hate with how overplayed it is.

Growing up, my parents would have nothing but christmas music playing on the stereo for months around christmas time... I really dreaded the whole time of year.

Now that I'm out of there, I hear nothing but christmas music whenever I need to go shopping. Given what chirstmas music represents in retail, it's easy to get irritated by it.

...I'll be much happier once it's all over.

In my country. Venezuela ,there are a different type of christmas music that is called "gaita". I personally liked it because its lyrics are not only happy foolishness if not reflexive ones. And it's very instrumental too, something that I love.

But I totally hate the christmas carols, both the ones of my country (fortunately thery aren't popular) and the ones of United states.
I don't know, in my opinion their lyrics are pretty lame and they are "happy" in a ridiculous level, also they are so repeated that you get tired of them.
