My fathers side is very quirky and shy. My father was shy but not quirky. His brother was very odd. I think my first cousin is a near asperger miss.

Moms side, nothing.

I inherited my genetic syndrome from my father's side and, ironically, they are more down to earth than my mother's side. There's plenty of eccentricity on my mother's side.

Dad's side is very very quirky. I'd say quiiiite AS-ish. Distant, rude......
his brothers have OCD and other sort of stuff like that. His mother is also very quirky.

Mom's side is very normal and friendly- but loud 8O

i fit in better with dad's side of the family but i am not welcome...
I am 100% welcomed on my mom's side.

I inherited AS from my dad's side too, as my cousin has it apparently, but I haven't seen her in years. My other cousin avoided the world and stayed in his bedroom for 10 years. On a different matter, people live longer on my dad's side. My great grandma died aged 96, my grandad is 86 but looks about 60 :D. My dad is very unique, very racist and thinks he should rule the world and bring back public execution.

My mum's side of the family is normal and very sociable.

My mother is insane (only a slight exaggeration) and my father was a daily user of cannabis.

Quirky isn't really a sufficient description.

My dad's side of the family are more intelligent and eccentric I think this is where my autism comes from. My mom's family is more loud charismatic people who are fun to be around they could not be more NT if they tried.

My dad's side. The "oddness" can be traced back several generations, with some individuals truly 'round the bend.

Umm... both. Seriously. Autistic and other neuro-atypical people all over both sides, but particularly my father's father's side and my mother's mother's side.

My mother's side: My mother has inattentive ADHD symptoms, although either she doesn't have much severity or the symptoms are managed very well with her smoking habit (nicotine medicates it well). My grandmother had a lot of ADHD symptoms as well, but these were completely unmanaged. Her house was always cluttered up, she'd forget to put things away, she was always impulsively spending money on things that ended up being forgotten and gathering dust, and she was impulsively generous to a fault. And I literally mean to a fault. I had what I would describe now as a meltdown a few years ago when I found out she had given away one of my kittens because she met a little girl who wanted a kitten, and then didn't tell me about it for 18 years - and she still hadn't. She was bragging to my nieces about how generous she was in giving one of my beloved pets away, and then letting me believe the pet had been killed or just vanished. She was always giving other people's pets (and inanimate objects as well) away.

My father's side: I haven't spoken to my biological father in years for various reasons, but I've talked to my aunt and mother about him over the years and he sounds like he has AS traits if he is himself not AS. One of the coping styles described in Tony Attwood's book describes him so well it's breathtaking (the "arrogance" one, about holding grudges against perceived slights - which is why I don't talk to him). I'd only met him when I was 18 and got to know him a bit until I was 20 or 21, before life interfered and he decided I hated him.

My Mum's side holds all the intelligence (with apologies to my father  ), however my Mum, about three of her five brothers and her father (my Grandpa) are all often described as 'shy', 'quiet', 'odd' or 'eccentric'. My Dad's side has mainly ADHD hyperactive AND innatentive type plus some SERIOUS dyspraxia! None of my family except me are diagnosed but my brother, Dad, cousin and late Granny all have (or had) quite distinctive features of ADHD. My Grandpa in particular is the obvious source of the autism as he is very clever but doesn't like socialising and alphebetizes a collection of opera that he spent many hours of many days taping from the radio...

I haven't seen the grandpa from my dad's side since 1982 even though he is still alive. 8O

Definitely my mom's side. Mental illnesses, eating disorders and drug/alcohol addiction affected pretty much all of her family members. My mom was the only normal one out of all of them.

My dad's side is relatively normal aside from the fact that one of his brothers is in prison for hijacking a car and drunk driving.

My mom's side is quirky, annoying, etc. and my dad's side probably wishes I was dead or thinks I basically am.

I actually don't see a lot of my dad's side of the family. That's mainly because many of the people on my dad's side of the family live in some of the more rural areas of Texas whereas I live one of the urban areas.

I mostly see people from my mom's side of the family. My mom's side is very large, mainly because her mother had seven kids. Most of them live in the area that I live in, and we frequently gather together for holidays and birthdays.

I don't think my mom's or my dad's side of the family is particularly peculiar. Basically, my dad's side of the family is more rural while my mom's side of the family is more urban.
